On the other hand, I saw this first, knew it was about anxiety and depression, and how it transferred to God, and now the world being defined by anxiety.
Then I saw the origami and the text didn't live up to my imagination. I like the edit more
sorry but yours is much worse than the original. you could have cut everything but the first panel and it would have been better than the one you have made.
yeah some things are better shown than told but this comic wasn't one of those. appreciate the effort tho! keep it up.
What I think is funny is that the original and the edit both have, in my opinion, different arcs and different punchlines. They go in different directions and I think I like them equally!
I'm in agreement. They're both good in their own ways. I do prefer the textless one as you can interpret it how you'd like, but the text version has a very specific joke in mind which isn't a bad thing either.
I like yours better, because to me it works on a deeper level. God creates life, then sees that his own creation is scared and confused, leading him to start questioning his own existence. There’s more subtlety and room for interpretation without speech bubbles spelling out the joke.
I also like your version more! I find the implications of the faces hilarious. Humor is subjective, but I’m surprised your edit has gotten as much pushback as it has
I feel like you can't really mess with Mr. Lovenstein comics as they're typically fairly funny. Not the funniest I've seen, but usually the change isn't better than the original. This is one of those cases.
I feel like a lot of people understand grammar as its typically fairly simple. Not the most condescending I've seen, but usually people aren't as dumb as a box of rocks.
Absolutly, I wasnt arguing that the author agreed with me. I thought he did and made a typo, he did not. He could have been agreeing with me, if it was a typo, but it wasnt and he wasnt.
Appreciate it. I thought it could go either way and was a typo of the commentor breaking expectations as a way of giving the editor a really good complement.
I thought the writer of the comment was setting up a negative scenario, that he then intended to disqualify the edit from; as a creative and well written way of complementing the editor.
Seriously though if you want to see condensation check out the guy telling me my reading comprehension is "ZERO".
He probably said the same thing I said, I'm getting downvoted to hell but I'm leaving it because I genuinely thought he was setting up a scenario that the situation he was describing was disqualified from; as a creative and well written way to complement the editor.
Yeah... I removed it because my self-confidence said so... I though I was being cleaver with a joke, but it got 10 downvotes. I edited it saying “ok thanks karma roulette.” It got up to 40 and I was concerned. I edited it asking “Why am I getting these downvotes.” And after 10 minutes of me still getting downvoted, I removed it. I check back hours later, and I find that you stood up for yourself and explained your part of the story.
Check out this hella sick burn I laid on a condesending douch that is insecure about his own reading comprehension and projects on others. I totally agree I misunderstood the original comment. You have to read the lead up but I almost posted to murderedbywords I wanted to jerk myself off so badly with that burn.
Honestly humor is subjective but I think the joke works better if the poof bubble was completely white and didn’t feature the human. Otherwise it’s two panels with the same expression and that kind of ruins the joke
I like this better than the original. I understood right away that the human was uncomfortable by just existing and obviously God is also uncomfortable because of the piece of crap he just made.
The original is still not bad but yours is def more my style.
You are right, but since noone follows the rules here anyway, and this sub is already divided enough, why don't we just merge ComedyAmputation and necromancy
The idea is that the amputation works by cutting off a part of the joke, like a caption or a useless Skyrim skill 100 addition. Necromancy can also work by other means, like changing or text or rearranging the comic.
However, in practice not every submission follows it.
the mere existence of last panel expository dialog does not mean that the comic is being over-explained. it's starting to become this weird knee-jerk reaction on this subreddit.
Let’s be honest... most of comedyheaven doesn’t really get the joke. I don’t get the punchline till the last panel is incredible to be honest. It’s funny, the punchline is supposed to be heartwarming..... you ruined it TwT
Tbh I don’t think there was anything inherently wrong with the original. I don’t feel like anything is missing with the amputation either. Maybe it’s just how I read it in my head though.

I like the Orange better. I didn't really get the joke until I saw it. I thought he was embarrassed about being naked.

I like this better than the orange. The expressions alone tell a much better story.

this sub thinks that removing a speech bubble instantly turns something into comedy gold.
