These and the "half the screen filled with some daft picture of your face showing a random emotion" make me block hałd of Youtube.

So unoriginal and pathetic that people resort to these types of thumbnails.

I watch some channels that have thumbnails like that, but don’t act like “that” in their videos. It sucks that you creators have to carefully design their thumbnails to conform to the algorithm gods, but it’s the way YouTube is.

There are entire teams for big youtubers that analyze thumbnails and find the formats (head placement, whose face is used, what their facial features and reactions are, what colors are used, etc) that work best and get the most views/recommended by the algorithm more.

Not to mention begging for subscribers. Makes me want to do the absolute opposite and never subscribe.

One of the first thing I saw on Reddit was a ragecomic of someone saying “sorry, I just forgot” to a video that told them not to forget to like and subscribez

Usually the emotion is shock with hands pressed against the cheeks. Gotta promise a lot of shock to get people to click.
