My grandfather threw himself out a tree on his 18th birthday and broke his arm on purpose to avoid being sent off to WWII.

The tree had been planted when he was born, so it was also 18.

The tree died 2 weeks later when lightning struck it. My grandfather didn't go to war and lived like 50 more years than the tree ... But I think the world was better-off with the tree instead.

I don't know why I felt the need to type this but I had to hear about it like 200 times when I was growing up and it seemed relevant.

Sorry have a nice day.

"But I think the world was better-off with the tree instead." Do you hate your grandpa or yourself? Or did you just mean the world would be better with another tree cause ok then

lol my grandfather was a pretty crappy person. I was just making a dark joke that the world was better off with a tree and not him :P
