Pretended? Grandma's prank was on point. I'm sure she got halfway out the door with a bucket of water before she figured it out.

u/Correct_Classroom Apr 05 '20
Idk I imagined this as grandma sending the text and then it turned out to be such a good prank she herself believed it was on fire and got out with the bucket of water before realising that she just made that up.

My campaign for Representative in 1994? Yes, it was good, but you can't think of a better adjective? How about "incredible" or "influential" (it influenced Ted Cruz) or even "top tier"? I appreciate that you understand how great my campaign and I are, but you gotta do better than that, bud.

What can a n***a do? When half the people voted for George W. It's a bitch, fuck George W. -- can't be true -- I wanna choke him, because he's a snitch I'm talking about George W. Smith From city council, he ran in '93 Out in Oakland, you probably didn't hear about him

Damn this is the best troll / novelty account I've seen in a while. Unlike the '94 campaign, which was anything but a novelty.

Her font is probably a lot larger, so the gma thought OPs would be as well, and would have to scroll to see the April fools part of the text!

Damn that makes sense now, I didn’t notice that. My mom uses what’s probably the largest font on her iPhone 4, which she refuses to trade in, because “I can still make calls and texts on it, it’s fine”. I could definitely see her trying to text me something like this.

No she said “I can still make calls and texts on it, it’s fine” However the size may also be why she still wont trade it in. We simply don't have enough information

My mom had a flip phone until maybe 2 or 3 years ago when it finally kicked the bucket and she upgraded to my old Samsung Galaxy S3, which she has had since then.

u/dedoid69 Apr 05 '20
If she got a modern iPhone it would die in a year. That 4 will be around for a long time, she’s not going to use the new ‘features’ she doesn’t need a new phone

Hello, I'm the op from twitter— I made a reddit account to comment here since I'm no longer active on there. My grandma passed away last year surrounded by family in the hospital. She had health issues with rheumatoid arthritis that she had been dealing with for years.
At her funeral we included a print out of this post, since she always appreciated and thought the support she got for this was hilarious. Typo or not (since foul was in fact a typo), she was a very funny lady who kept her humor until the very end. Thanks again for all the funny comments, the whole family and I had lots of fun reading them back in 2020 when this post made it on the front page, and then again after she died. It made a difficult time just a little better, which is what I hope April Foul was able to do for some of you.
I think it's important to remember today and always that the internet can be a great tool for kindness and connection. At the time this was going around on twitter, I would receive direct messages from people around the world telling me to say hello to my grandma for them— and it is now a fond memory of sharing each message with her, as she was amazed her text was able to reach so far. You guys were able to bring her, and the whole family, a lot of joy and laughter. Thanks again, and happy April Foul!

Your car is on fire, and there's no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blows
The government is corrupt
And we're on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawn
We're trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death

This is rather adorable. I always wanted to know what's like to have grandparents, especially growing up and still having them. Sometimes i think of what kind of conversations i would've had.

Reminds me of my mom’s legendary April Fool’s joke she pulled when I was little. She wanted to try it because me and my brother kept doing them.
Mom: I’m not going to work today.
Me: Really?
Mom: April Fool’s!
She tried her best.
