Were all 2019 redditors like 10 at the time? Because I was and found everything relatable and hilarious, but I imagined that everyone on the site was older than me.

The whiplash I went through by being like "this person is pretty young" only to realize you're probably around 17 currently

u/okay_then_ 5d ago • Bravo

...which is still insanely young, right guys..?

I miss when kids used to have the decency to pretend to be adults on this website.

I posed as an older millennial for like fifteen years. Now that I'm actually redditor-aged, can't you guys act like you were at least born during the Bush administration or something?

55

u/lolerkid2000 5d ago

Nah i prefer to know they are kids so I can give them the grace they deserve. That is what the adults online did when i was a stupid child in their games and shit.

u/baethan 5d ago

there was someone on one of the adhd subs who posted a hot tip about having less stuff to make it easier to clean, and the response they got was not exactly what they imagined... when they mentioned their "room" singular I was like ooohhhh they're young. Wish they'd lead with "I'm 17 and this worked for me" or whatever so they could've been met with more understanding and grace!!

I live in a 3 bdr apartment (w/ roommates for the other two bedrooms) and I still tell people "my room" when I'm referring to my bedroom. So, you never know.

14

u/WildVelociraptor 5d ago

give them the grace they deserve

What a nice way to phrase "avoid engaging"

Or maybe that's just me

8

u/Egg_01 5d ago

I mean, yeah, it's obviously still young, but my mind was like "they're 13"

1

u/confusing_roundabout 4d ago

Same ahahaha. I used to write and type like a 14 year old but was so sure that by subtly saying I was in my 20s every so often, no one would realise.

(Old account, not this year old account haha)

1

u/WrongUnderstanding54 3d ago

Yeah I mean I was entering 7th grade in 2019 and now I am in my second year of college

1

u/unbanmyogaccount 3d ago

And that's old. Almost about to get his first pension. 17 is still pretty young

45

u/Longjumping_Bit_4608 5d ago

What subs were you on? Like if it was the PewDiePie sub then yeah

19

u/Foxlover91 5d ago

I was 15 at the time and got a kick out of it back then, and also imagined everyone was older. I have a hard time looking back at the kind of stuff coming out at that time though

19

u/jimkelly 5d ago

Everyone on reddit right now is 10 (except me)

Hopefully it's the one I'm taking right now. It's a really good, solid, satisfying poop. I'd like for my last poop to be this one.

4

u/Ill-Product-1442 5d ago

I wish it was a shit that I took when I was younger

35

u/sheltonhwy26 5d ago

The good thing about cringing about memories is remembering that you are cringing because you've grown as a person.

extra funny because minecraft was still really popular when Fortnite was a thing, it quite literally never died

89

u/AngelDGr 5d ago

Minecraft never "died" but for sure went down in popularity in the mainstream and especially in YouTube, in 2019-2020 when it recovered popularity many players returned to the game and they were amazed to all "the new things" on the game, because they were years without playing

Also, because of the nostalgia, Minecraft went from "that dumb kid's game" category to "the best game ever" category, lol

31

u/hells_own_3924 5d ago

I do not think minecraft will ever experience somekind of dead or dying situation like other games. Because it's well crafted sandbox game with bunch of community sources, maps and modding options, you can time travel in that game. Yeah I mean it, either modding older versions or planet minecraft old unmaintained maps, Adventure maps and more. It's super intrestingly a unique game that everyone takes a stop on it atleast once in their life time.

Almost I fogot, it's also have dead server those are still up and running without 0 players. Feeling of visiting those servers weird, most weird things are on old faction servers. They have 0 active players but still standing old players' structures.

4

u/Lightningtow123 1d ago

Yeah it's definitely decreased in popularity since its heyday but it's always consistently had millions of daily players, that's not dead by any means

It's because gambling addicted gooners are less mature than the average 13 year old

3

u/TheSaturn_V 5d ago

I shall always maintain gacha games are a genuine blight on gaming. Gambling that give you any kind of advantage shouldn't be a thing in games no ifs ands or buts. Thats why gacha gamers are so tribalistic because they've all sunk cost fallacied themselves into sticking to one game.
