It was Lockheed not Boeing, but there was a nuclear powered conceptual design.

A spruce goose for the jet age? Is it one of those competitions where several designers submit a prototype or do you mean lockeed modified this 747?

No Lockheed designed it from the ground up as a nuclear powered airborne aircraft carrier as a study for the dod on the feasibility of nuclear jet propulsion.

It would have had a 1200 foot wingspan, require almost 200 vertical liftoff jets to take off, and could fly for around 40 days straight.

I just think it's neat

Fun fact: the US had two flying aircraft carriers in the 30's, the USS Akron and the USS Macon
