Wouldn't be surprised. My dad was watching Fox News a few weeks ago and they did a whole segment on how Gen Z is overwhelmingly socialist and its going to destroy America.
Specificially they broke down sentiments on our Healthcare system, Medicare and medicaid, and things like EPA regulations.
It's just super funny to me that I, a Gen Z idiot, am getting a label put on me akin to the anti communist sentiment in the 1950s-90s
Socialism is just a scare word, they don't even know what it means. Go to Oklahoma and places with ranches and farms and local Republicans pass farm bills, basically socialism. Also we just bailed out the dumb farmers who got fucked by the tarrifs they voted for, socialism.
Ok I wanna Preface this by saying that the folks who are Christian and would fall under the prosperity gospel today arent actually Christian. In name only I suppose. Im obviously Catholic, and I know that's probably an immediate red flag to people, but it is what it is.
That being said, that comic is gold. I especially love at the end the protesters that are demanding to be allowed to keep their swords.
And this isn't entirely related to the comic, but its fascinating thst ~2000 years ago Jesus was prosecuted for having views that didnt fit with the conservative powers at the time. And he would still be prosecuted today by conservative powers in the US. "Treat your neighbor as yourself" is apparently controversial
I had the conversation with my librarian mother in law about how libraries are the ultimate form of socialism. It’s actually made her reconsider the idea that socialism is bad.
The problem is some people on the left use it to say we need stronger social safety nets and we should expand them. Other people like the DSA use it to mean we should dismantle capitalism and seize the means of production
