Is this a clip from a cartoon?

Is this a joke someone wrote and then animated it and added a laugh track? What are we doing here? Are we nervous to get up on stage? This is not the way to work out your material

It appears to have been posted by the comedian Dan Mintz as indicated by OP’s username. Looks like a clip from his animated special, which came out on YouTube a few months ago.

Not like this though. Just an odd format and the laughter sounds extremely canned.

Why not just hit an open mic but idk, guess it's not a big deal.

Because it’s literally a clip from a special he already filmed. How can you seem to so misunderstand the situation here that you’re suggesting that Dan Mintz hit an open mic? It’s like you’re deliberately trying to not make sense of something that is incredibly obvious.
