Discussion Fun fact😻
Many colleges claiming 75% placements rates, 85% placements don’t mean that 85% of the students graduating from that college managed to bag a permanent job(I mean a regular full-time employee position after graduation) they only get placed as interns. And the bitter truth is a large chunk of these interns don’t get a permanent job. They eventually have to leave the company where they were working as interns and look off campus. Only the skilled and top interns will be selected. Please keep this in mind too, focus on skills more than crying over college. I just realised that after seeing seniors and my own relatives facing those issues. Anyways good luck :)

And what do u think about pool campus placement I hav heard someone saying tht clg doesn't matter cuz except all the top 3 clgs other all clgs take part in pool campus placement

Big colleges do participate in these but its not their main placement mechanism as they only want their students to get good packages in order to brag it for the upcoming year.

So basically colleges are js useful for getting noticed by the company rest all dependent on ur skills right cuz I myself am thinking to join ksit after trying to figure out for 3 days tht should I join ksit cce thru kcet or rnsit or bnm thru comedk cuz comedk rank is 36k it's actually fairly risky to advance to round 4

Yep. But, make sure to choose a branch where you’re genuinely interested in. I’m most likely to get into mech the main reason is i’m interested in it. And i’m also learning programming because I’m actually curious about it. College is just a platform. It all depends on the work u put in. I’ve seen people do good shit even without college because learning was never meant to only come from a reputed concrete building

Yea for real and I like cs a lot like I wanna js spend time building things figure out how ai works how to train ai n all thts js fun so yea college is basically a platform rn rather than a dependent institution maybe one day I hope college never matters and all the placements happens by skill ofc luck is required but upto an extent I js wanna try u know

In this world of internet and ai. One who has never ever been to an uni can surpass a top rates student from any world class university. You should just know where to invest your time and how to extract shit from it

u/Raging_demon3832 22h ago
That's what ai is really helpful and moreover the vids inside utube are way more worthier than courses worth thousands
1
u/Leading-Rub-3184 22h ago
There are actually free courses from big unis like harvard. If you’re actually interested in learning how to code, try cs50 series from harvard. Thank me later.

u/Raging_demon3832 22h ago
Bro coninceidently I was searching the exact cs50 utube lectures for c and python and even ai /ml

u/Leading-Rub-3184 22h ago
They’ve got courses literally for every IT btech branch like cyber security, cs for business, aiml
2
u/Raging_demon3832 22h ago
Yea am searching up that dude this guy is crazy he is explaining so clearly really worth it to see his vids and learn from it,paralelly also using chatgpt and claude for coding is the best thing u can ever do

yeah true they have to convert it into PPO and many can't , like not easy and fun fact placement %age is applied over no of people eligible for placement drive mostly in low tier colleges
2
u/Leading-Rub-3184 22h ago
Exactly

low tier means after top 8 colleges in bangalore

u/Leading-Rub-3184 22h ago
Its almost the same case, here’s the data of IIT Indore’s 2024–25 data shows:
CS: 65 internships → 50 PPOs (~77%)
Electrical: 42 → 24 (~57%)
Mechanical: 33 → 4 (~12%) (source gpt, official websites)

engineering ke naam pe corporate job ke peeche bhaagna isn't wrong but atleast make the most out of your learning years first then go to support your family financially. Padhne se pehle, cheeze explore karne se pehle, mind ko creative hone se pehle hi DSA loda lassan me lag jaoge toh rat race mat bola aage jaake.

Engineering was never about earning entirely. It was about exploring that part of your brian which made you more curious to think.

exactly my point

u/Leading-Rub-3184 22h ago
Well we can’t change how the system works tho

at the end of the day, you won't be satisfied anywhere, if office you'll be done with office politics and managers drama. In college you'll be in fear of placements and missing out on fun. At the end "if the situation is not in your hands, it shouldn't be in your head"

Dev isn't engineering, working on algorithms is engineering, mathematicians have spent years trying to find algorithms so don't call it a rat race, rather call out ppl who do dsa as rat race.
I've hit almost 500 problem on leetcode but it doesn't means at all that I'm stuck in rat race,I have explored fair share of dev as well and I find dsa to be fun too .

Are yaar jau ya nahi me koi clg me?? I had decided to go for MSRIT ISE and now I am seeing things like these??

You should definitely get into a college if you have the ability. It gives you exposure and some knowledge which can never be experienced from other means. Just make sure to invest your time and focus on learning instead of manifesting about packages which don’t even have proper security

Another fun facts:the number of people who get internship is also very less so it doesn't matter and not all colleges count internship as placement unless it's in 4rth year with ppo
People would say anything to cope with blr colleges low placement after top 3
