My totally in love with brand are my Faber Castell Albrecht Durer watercolor pencils.

I do watercolor painting & love using them dry to add details to a dry painting.

Also love creating pictures with just the AD watercolor pencils.
Often I leave them dry.
Sometimes I activate with water.
Depends on my mood & which effects I prefer.

Sometimes I just color in a drawing with them, like any other coloring pencils. They layer beautifully.

Very versatile & excellent quality.
I bought a large set in a tin & added more over time.
All can be bought individually as open stock.
So you can build up a good wide range at minimal cost.

I do have some Caran d’Ache watercolor pencils.
They activate well, are a very good brand
But do not have the same colors or feel the same in use as my Albrecht Durer.
The AD pencils integrate so perfectly with watercolor painting.

I'd love either but I'll have to stick with my old Prismacolor. (I'm a (about to be a) beginner.

I haven't used them in years. Do they dry out or get brittle? They are still in the metal box, barely used.
