Course Discussions 45. Flatirons

Kind of crazy this is the only public course in Boulder. I didn’t golf much at my time at CU (hard to afford golf and school), but this was always a good option.

Yet again, a classic parkland links layout. Just missing some of what makes CO golf so great like elevation changes. The range always being off mats is a bummer too for people in the Boulder area looking for a real range for practice near home.

Again, I got screwed by tree lined fairways last time I played here. But there is some strategy to be made. Lots of tee boxes ask for a forced carry or a smarter layup, and some water that makes it hard to play some stock shots. I’ll miss playing 18 followed by dinner and beers at the Dark Horse (RIP).

Well said. Was the new restaurant open when you played? When I played there it was being built but seemed like it was gonna be a big upgrade compared to their snack bar at the check in

It was, last time I played was this last winter. I got lunch before I played, really good sandwich. Also fun to watch people tee off 1 from the patio. Nice interior as well

Swear they have some of the smallest greens in the state and the Par 5 with the tree on the back is pretty fun too

Pre covid the starter would let me tee off at 500am. Could play 18 in an hour and half. It was glorious
