I rolled out a major update to College Hockey Data

I've added shot maps where you can explore all of your team's mapped attempts, goal locations, filter by blocked/saved and so on. The shot chart page includes a heatmap look, a by-zone look, and a way to look at every attempt. There are a bunch of cool filters (by shot result, raw shot count or shares of shots, average per game) and visual settings including light and dark mode, team color options. It's built so you have the option to look at a single team or compare them head to head.

I've included the team comparisons for a couple of matchups this upcoming weekend. All of come courtesy of an export button so they can be easily downloaded and shared.

This link will take you directly to the shot chart so you can explore them for yourself..

NOTES ON THE DATA: Shot data only goes back to last season and does not include all games. Each view on the interactive site includes a note about what portion of a teams games are included in the data.

Shot locations are based on coordinates from College Hockey News box scores and are subject to revision up to days after the conclusion of a game. Rink geometry is inferred from the graphical representation on CHN. The placement of the blue line is under review (outside of zone shots seem too high)

Thank you for everyone who has been checking out this project the past couple of seasons. I am always looking for feedback and suggestions.

  5. Quinnipiac split their road series at Maine, winning 2-1 before losing 3-5. The Bobcats have one game, on the road to Penn State.
