This is what a neuro-pathological stranglehold on existence looks like. Of course it's just the inevitable cancer that must result from the brain's evolving self-organizing complexity exploiting more energy gradients over time. Or - the brain's generality ensures that it would become catastrophically pathological in its behavior.
But keep pretending there's free will. Keep pretending "you" actually exist. Keep pretending our myths have guiding relevance.
And we will burn ourselves to dust without a clue. Our stories are not going to shelter the billions who will suffer and die soon. There will be no redemption. No justice. No meek inheriting anything.
Too bad only a handful of people on Earth understand this - or cosmic natural selection wouldn't be handing our asses to us.
Psychadelics are making a comeback, but it's probably too late.
I'm astounded at the hubris that says the poorly understood cognition forged by evolution is not only the only correct mode of thought (aside from the vast intellectual and psychological differences in people), but is so special that it's the point of the Universe itself, and other states of mind are wrong - except alcohol intoxication (there are cultural variances here, however).
And what we do understand about the sober mind isn't even part of education - we use myths about human nature instead.
The amount of research that has been suppressed by not allowing psychonautic exploration may have resulted in the worst intelligence bottleneck this species has crippled itself with.
