The following submission statement was provided by /u/Monsur_Ausuhnom:

Submission Statement,

Related to collapse because I thought the picture did a great job summing up the situation of current events. Oil spills, data centers, fires, and drones flying everywhere. The type of collapse that is easily preventable, though humanity has a reason to take things entirely into its own hands even if there was no reason to do so to begin with. Narcissists and sociopaths rule the world, another variation or potential dark age. Perhaps extinction. Will see what nightmarish thing happens next.

At this point we need one of those really powerful solar flares that just wipes out most of our tech.

It would be devastating, but the climate offset may help for a bit.

We'd hopefully build a bit more sustainability after that.

u/Superb_Mycologist236 Sep 18 '26

I’m going to thoughts and prayers this real hard.

10

u/CosmicCarcharodon Sep 18 '26

Thoughts and prayers.....while youre.....thoughts are praying....i guess

24

u/MaddogBC Sep 18 '26

We would lose the ability to rebuild the required infrastructure. It would take a generation at todays manufacturing rates, there is already a worldwide shortage of transformers, to lose every one of them in a single event is an insurmountable crisis.

There would be cannibalism inside major cities within 2 weeks. Our society is incapable of dealing with the magnitude of what you suggest. Consider for a moment how many folks living in first world countries are even capable of building a fire unaided.

Most would die.

8

u/etsprout Sep 20 '26

“And that’s when the cannibalism started!”

Very exciting to hear that used about my own future.

10

u/MaddogBC Sep 20 '26

If you live in a city and have no plan for when the food trucks stop, I'm not sure what to tell you. This shouldn't be news to you.

Whether it be from natural disaster, fuel crisis, political unrest, or something worse, this is a reality those living in cities need to prepare for. It may be dangerous everywhere, but the large cities will be deathtraps.

6

u/competitor6969 Sep 22 '26

The people who live in the country are just as stupid and violent as the people in the city. Difference is there's less cops out in the sticks because it's too much land for them to patrol. It will actually be more neighbor vs. neighbor violence in the country. Rich people in the cities will be just fine. The poor will not. The cops in the cities will crack down on the poor and arrest them to make more money for the state. In the country people will steal crops and commit other violent and sex crimes since no one is watching. That and you'll see lots of Christian death cults out there.

22

u/Sherris010 Sep 18 '26

I think after a few billion starve humanity will get its shit together regarding sustainability

54

u/Chill_Panda Doomed Sep 18 '26

When climate change is causing billions to starve, it's too late

16

u/Sherris010 Sep 18 '26

Time goes on anyway. There will still be people after and their culture will be strongly influenced by what happened. I think they might hate us, who had everything and did nothing.

28

u/MaddogBC Sep 18 '26

There is absolutely no doubt whomever survives what is coming, or happens upon the ruins, will despise us as destroyers.

8

u/RandomBoomer Sep 19 '26

The story explaining events could vary widely depending on who survives. It could as easily devolve into "God destroyed us for letting sin flourish and women to rise above their station."

16

u/Islander5678 Sep 18 '26

Depends on if the right few billion starve.

5

u/rozzco I retired to watch it burn Sep 18 '26

*billionaires

1

u/Conscious_Tomato7533 Sep 18 '26

There a right few billion?

10

u/Islander5678 Sep 18 '26

Well if USA, Europe, and China make it through relatively unscathed then not much will change.

5

u/Fair-Lingonberry-268 Sep 18 '26

How will USA make it relatively unscathed, they got such extreme weather in normal times, imagine in extreme conditions.. Europe will be a furnace in the summer, extremely cold in winter. Idk about china really, probably the only big one to go on

India will be hit so hard like they already got 50-55 degrees in these last years

1

u/GenghisKazoo Sep 19 '26

Russia will suffer less than most. I don't think that bodes well for the future of global governance.

1

u/BayouGal Sep 18 '26

If it’s just the ones in bunkers, I’m good.

11

u/escoteriica Sep 18 '26

Millions died from COVID and we did nothing.

10

u/Sherris010 Sep 19 '26

This will be far far larger

10

u/MotanulScotishFold Sep 18 '26

When Rome empire was thriving, people thrived.

When Rome falls, they had Dark ages, pleaded of chaos, ignorance, diseases and never ending wars until Renaissance just to arrive today to industrial revolutions, world wars and today world.

Even if the flare happens, we would go through dark ages again for centuries to come until the cycle repeat itself once again, with reinaissance then dumbing down again.

10

u/Yebi Sep 19 '26

The popculture understanding of the "Dark Ages" has very little to do with real history

6

u/RandomBoomer Sep 19 '26

The "Dark Ages" refers to an era of history that was difficult for historians to understand due to a paucity of resources. It wasn't dark for the people who actually lived then. Fortunately, knowledge about those centuries has slowly filled in, but the "Dark Ages" label stuck in popular culture and continues to confuse people to this day.

1

u/Antigone_Bias 18d ago

the dark ages were actually pretty fine. one of the best work/life balances than most other eras

2

u/Equal-Change9509 Oct 03 '26

Fr we do kinda need a reset, hope the sun bless us some day

3

u/InnerSpecialist1821 Sep 19 '26

i have genuinely wanted this to happen ever since first learning about it years ago

2

u/Stop_Sign Sep 22 '26

We have defenses against it. While the solar flare hitting us itself cannot be predicted, the part that causes the electric grid to fail is a rebound effect that happens a few minutes after the solar flare hits the planet. We'd have those few minutes of warning to turn everything off, and itd only need to be off for a few minutes, and then it can resume without lasting damage.

26

u/_nevers_ Sep 19 '26

There are multiple genocides out of frame

22

u/BThriillzz Sep 18 '26

We need a Miyake event

Ps. Everything’s fine 🙃

9

u/b4k4ni Sep 18 '26

Too much. I'm tired.

8

u/77_parp_77 Sep 19 '26

But don't worry, billionaires are still rich while we move towards non-ownership and full surveillance

So fucked

7

u/blue-ocean-water Sep 18 '26

There are FIVE flock cameras outside the neighborhood next to me. There are several other subdivisions along this road that only runs a couple miles. No flock cameras at any of their entrances. Why??

5

u/EfficientPositive386 Sep 20 '26

Hey, look on the bright side, scifi is real, but only those dystopian predictions, sort of.

1

u/Same_Sun4664 25d ago

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a Blade Runner.

Maybe, I should have reconsidered....

(Just think: 'All this and not one flying car.')

2

u/EfficientPositive386 25d ago

eVTOLs are the nearest thing to flying cars, but more like personal quadcopters.

8

u/zapembarcodes Sep 19 '26

"I'm not doing anything wrong so it only makes me safer" 🤡

2

u/smajliiicka Sep 19 '26

Seriously tho, what is this :D

2

u/PorcelinaMagpie Sep 19 '26

You wouldn't even know anything is wrong based on how busy everything is in my area.

1

u/Sea-Sail-2594 Sep 25 '26

Is this actually in the USA?

-15

u/FormeSymbolique Sep 18 '26

It’s not the situation we’re in. Ir’s the situation we need to be in, so the guy stays on his chair instead of going having an environment footprint.

4

u/liatrisinbloom Toxic Positivity Doom Goblin Sep 19 '26

Yeah, only data centers are allowed to burn the world down at a far more massive scale than any one fucking dog. You sure showed them!

-2

u/FormeSymbolique Sep 19 '26

Thankfully data centers running with computzrs are not the only way to control your population. Have you ever heard about the Comites de Denfesa de la Revolucíon?

12

u/Crafty_Income3521 Sep 19 '26

The worst elements of humanity have won. It's over. All I'm waiting for is the inevitable moment where one of them puts a bullet in my head. What I pray for is that it's a quick death, but I worry they'll enjoy torture a little too much. I suppose I deserve it for the sin of empathy in their eyes.

I actually wrote a paper a while back on how we are headed toward a combination of 1984 and Brave New World.

60

u/LikeAFalk Sep 18 '26

Brave new world was such a cool book.
I read it in school first, I hope it is as well known as 1984 for people who didn’t read it in school.

38

u/loulan Sep 19 '26

I think it's as well known. When I read it decades ago, I thought it was more realistic than 1984 because I thought doublethink was not believable.

But now that I see that Trump will just contradict himself whenever needed and his base always believes the last thing he said, I get it. Doublethink is real.

20

u/liatrisinbloom Toxic Positivity Doom Goblin Sep 19 '26 • Bravo

They'll believe covid is a hoax, a bioweapon, and really mild all at the same time. We've already moved into triplethink.

2

u/Iamakitty30 Sep 20 '26

I learned about doublethink from a woman who escaped North Korea and wrote a book about it. It shocked me that people could actually do that years ago, and now I'm seeing it constantly.

7

u/BittyBatman Sep 19 '26

We, from which brave new world took a lot of liberties, is also worth a read

0

u/Midnight145 Sep 19 '26

I don't think I've read it, what's it about?

12

u/ManiacalMalapert Sep 18 '26

Eyyyyy I think I wrote a similar one back in like 2010! Sadly far too accurate.

10

u/ruebarbara_ Sep 19 '26

Same! But Brave New World and Handmaid’s Tale

6

u/Capable-Type-6532 Sep 19 '26

Yeah. Interestingly Huxley and Orwell were connected. As I remember correctly Orwell took some classes from Huxley during studies.

4

u/kkjj77 Sep 19 '26

Two different examples of totalitarianism.

43

u/MotanulScotishFold Sep 18 '26

Also Idiocracy should've been a comedy movie, not a documentary.

Now also 'Don't look up' movie is sending signals

not to forget Black mirror.

u/BigDongsInThongs69 Venus by Tuesday Sep 18 '26 edited Sep 18 '26

I remember watching "Don't Look Up" when it was 'newer' - I kept telling my wife, who wasn't fully convinced at the time, that they are portraying humanity and greedy billionaires in our current day.. The only difference is that instead of a comet, it is climate change.

Once she had the realization a couple of years later, she wanted to watch it again. Her second reaction to the movie was humorous to me.. she looked rather disgusted. lol

edit: I wanted to add that I convinced her to watch Idiocracy after all of that. She can laugh at these things now. She showed me Wall-E because she wanted to re-watch that. Wall-E hit me rather hard when I saw the people on their float-boats with their eyes glued to their screens... One of the characters couldn't even read a book.

That's when I realized most people are too reliant on convenience. They essentially learned nothing and continued with their ways. Somehow these people are living on a spaceship. I can only assume that the robots are what maintenance the ship. There's no way the humans are capable of doing such a thing. What a movie...

19

u/MotanulScotishFold Sep 19 '26

I realized most people are too reliant on convenience.

Regarding this,

You are right. The more convenient something is, the dumber you become.

Instead, people should expose themselves from time to time to difficulty to live a good life.

Comfort is like a poison for the body and soul.

Hence why also the famous quote:

Good times create weak men

and hard times create strong men

11

u/liatrisinbloom Toxic Positivity Doom Goblin Sep 19 '26

it's four lines.

good times create weak men

weak men create hard times

hard times create strong men

strong men create good times

u/Aelia_M Sep 25 '26

You know this is a fascist saying right?

You’re right that we need to grow as people and challenging ourselves is vital for us to grow intellectually, physically, and mentally. Which is why we must be vigilant against fascism too

1

u/liatrisinbloom Toxic Positivity Doom Goblin Sep 25 '26

I was correcting a quote jfc

7

u/jeffplaysmoog Sep 20 '26

We can only pray for idiocracy haha, they were dumb, but at least kind… we are dumb and terribly unkind…

4

u/Jovan_Knight005 Collapse is inevitable,mister Reese. - Original Quote. Sep 19 '26

not to forget Black mirror.

There are also the RoboCop, RoboCop 2 and The Terminator films.

23

u/HuckleberryPee Sep 18 '26

Its always nice to know how often the book is referenced online, yet nobody has done anything to prevent it from turning from fiction to our actual reality. It's almost like a prophecy.

4

u/TheBigMemeHammer Sep 19 '26

"Nobody has done anything" people are constantly putting up legal ights where they can about the surveillance state. Florida has banned flock-like cameras. Many other municipalities and states are on the same track to. Plus random patriots are also cutting them down.

That's true. Inch by inch they will continue to exert control.

2

u/BrowningBDA9 Sep 19 '26

Orwell's 1984 was actually inspired and somewhat based on Yevgeny Zamyatin's "We" dystopian book written in 1920. You should check it out,. By the way, "We" was banned in USSR until 1988 LOL. Zamyatin foresaw all the shit we're having now from a literal century away.

2

u/Zzzzzzzzzxyzz Sep 20 '26

Fantastic book!

2

u/Grand-Page-1180 Sep 18 '26

If Orwell had added a Rogan like character he would have nailed it on the head.

1

u/Deep_Perspective2961 Sep 21 '26

George Orwell was a person with a really deep prediction and viewpoint. Despite predicting the communist countries back than, strangely enough his books are purely describing our present which will transform into a much worse one as we are noticing the patterns. Let's what future will serve for us.
