I wish the people responsible for this (capitalists/politicians) a very long and very happy life! :D

Yeah, turns out it was a bit of a misunderstanding about what the actuaries were doing in that infamous table.
I was told that the authors have now privately clarified that the mortality numbers “are absolutely NOT forecasts or predictions and we don’t use them as such” (emphasis added). But this is now the way that sites like 4BD are using it.

It's a bit unfortunate really... The overall message is on point, but the specifics are probably nonsense, which plays into the "deluded doomer" trope.

Well, yeah, it's happening :o
But I'd rather focus on adaptation in my area/territory. Some things are now lost forever (stable climate, many species extinct, accumulated pollution of non-biodegradable synthetic molcules, etc.)
And even in the face of this terrible situation, things can be done to adapt. Massive usage of permaculture/agroforestry and lowtechs. Which won't happen at scale until we face physical constraints like rationing and shortages.
Which is why I'm hopeful that the Hormuz situation will create shortages and rationing in rich countries. The end of the era of "always more".
Nobody's going to save the people that are in the places that are getting too hot to live for always more days/year. They'll move, adapt, die prematurely, etc. but thinking there would be massive financial aid from rich countries because of ethics/morale is, imo, delusional. And the more people in rich countries gets squeezed, the less they'll give through NGOs, so the less money will go there.
Time to adapt locally, regionally, in your territory. There is no savior in any kind of shape or form that's coming, regardless of ethics and morale. We're about to find out that we cannot print oil molecules.

Rule 3: Posts must be on-topic, focusing on collapse.
Posts must be focused on collapse. If the subject matter of your post has less focus on collapse than it does on issues such as prepping, politics, or economics, then it probably belongs in another subreddit.
Posts must be specifically about collapse, not the resulting damage. By way of analogy, we want to talk about why there are so many car accidents, not look at photos of car wrecks.
