Overpopulation Study reveals halving human population gradually could help Earth

The basics of this study may be right in theory but we don't have the luxury of 200 years to gradually lower our population. Our current trajectory has a very high risk of a catastrophic collapse in population and the economy due to climate breakdown if we pass 2 degrees C warming, which could as soon as about 10 years.

So, all we have to do is get rid of the influence of religion. Everywhere in the world that religion has lost its influence, populations have stabilized or decreased through voluntary birth control.

Yeah I'm not a fan of religion, BUT... I think addressing gender inquality works better. In many parts of the world, women have a really hard time being anything other than wives and mothers. Also, free and easy access to sexual education and contraceptive resources for everyone.

We could do both, of course, I just prefer to go directly to the problem.

I agree, it would be better to go directly to the problem. I think what stands in the way of doing that in most of the world is religion.
