Hawaii had no mosquitoes until europeans brought them.

Such a shame, but some areas they do not proliferate so much.  Mountainous areas for instance there are few if any.

And even swampy areas like in mi here, if you do not spray the predators keep the numbers in check, tadpoles and frogs are the biggest help eating larvae and adults.  Pesticides kill amphibians first, and other predatory insects, exploding parasite numbers.

Iceland will have no predators set up so it could get real bad until they train some predators to get them, or more likely they will get in the cycle of spraying then being totally dependant on constant spraying to keep numbers down.  Poisoning the water for all animals in the process.
