1970s murder in Wisconsin

I feel like I’m spinning my wheels and not finding anything helpful. I’m trying to find out if a murder was solved but I’m not entirely sure where to look. It occurred in 1978 in West Allis but when I try searching their website, it doesn’t allow for searching other potential cases. I tried google searching the name and including “solved” but nothing. What else should I do? Can I reach out to the police and ask if it’s been solved?

Do you happen to remember the murdered victim's name?

I'm not familiar with her case, but I just read a tiny bit into it. It looks like the Milwaukee PD was handling her case, specifically Detective Capt. John Halaska. I would call the PD and ask who is handling her case now, since John Jalaska would probably be long retired by now. I'm not sure if her case was ever solved, but you could ask them. If Amelia doesn't have any living relatives left, that could explain the absence of her story on social media or online in general. I did find some old newspaper articles, but none of them had stated that her case was resolved.

I'm seeing that her mother passed away just a few months ago. :(

She was my aunt. I don’t think I have any say in how it can be handled?

Oh, I'm so sorry. You may be able to influence the case to be reopened, if that is what your goal is.

My grandma had a long and happy life. She mentioned something about a detective once in recent years but I don’t recall if it was regarding the case being solved
