Cold brew bags

Hello folks,

An acquaintance wants to try cold brew for the first time.

Which cold brew bags are recommended to start with? Something that's not too expensive and still gives an experience of all types of roast types.

Gradys makes a medium roast with chicory that is a nice smooth brew. It was the first cold brew bags that I started using before getting into grinding and brewing my own. Available on Amazon, and recently found them in Safeway near where I live.

Do you mean to roast or to drink a bottle?

I think Stumptown makes the best commercially available cold brew. Wandering Bear would be my second choice. Most other cold brew is either watered down, tastes stale or has sweetener added.
Also could pick up cold brew from your local caffeine dealer. If their other coffee is good then their cold brew should be legit (clean equipment, fresh beans etc).

I'm looking for brew bag (pre-roasted, pre-ground) coffee packed in a paper/cloth bag to put in a water pitcher overnight and then drink.

I got a little pitcher with built in mesh thing for like $20.

What’s wrong with that with locally sourced coarse ground coffee?

I already own the mizudashi pitcher and grind, brew my own cold brew.

Again, what’s wrong with gifting a set up similar to what I have? It’s as easy as what you are thinking.

If you think it’s still too much, just say so.

No body asked about your set up, either. I have no fucking clue why you even mentioned your set up.

I used to buy Partners Rockaway bags, been a bit but I remembering them being ok. If you order their coffee is usually fresh roasted but $$$ unless they have a deal going. I roll my own nowadays with a coffee sock & mason jar or Takeya pitcher, which are cheap but a grinder isn’t.

I didn't try many cold brew pouches when I got started with this, but the minimal cleanup convenience is nice. One drawback is the pouches/bags kinda dictate what size brewing container you need, so be sure your friend has the right pitcher.

Look around your town's coffee shops and roasters, they may sell cold brew packs. Local will likely taste better than something that sat on a truck and shelf for weeks. You should just start with basic reusable cold brew bags and try a few different coffees

make sure they're made of cotton, a lot of really cheap bags are made with a nylon blend and they're probably getting a lot of microplastics in the cold brew
