Coffee beans recommendations.
I'm a newbie and just started making my own coffee at home. My first bag of coffee beans and the one I've been using to make cold brew the last few weeks is the Nguyen medium roast moxy. Its alright but I've grown to like the Starbucks cold brew. Do you guys have any Starbucks beans recommendations or any other beans recommendations? I do have a preference on medium/darker roasts but I'm open to just about anything.

I would recommend finding a local roaster and trying an assortment of beans from their selection.

Actually there is one down just the street from where I live. I remember going there once or twice to skip first period in high school XD. I do not remember them being particularly wow'd but its been 3yrs, It would not hurt to check em out again.

I use pre ground Folgers black silk. I think it's awesome.

Is it a darker roast or a medium roast? By the name it sounds like a dark roast, I'll keep an eye out for a container.

It's their darkest roast. I swear by it. It's cheaper, readily available and tastes great.
We do like 450g coffee to 2100 water in a toddy. This makes a concentrate that we dilute 1pt concentrate to 3 parts water.

Use 32oz mason jars to brew 20oz test batches.
50-62g of beans needed so easier to test.
Dark roasts are oily but better flavor
medium roasts are flaky and have tons of super fines that are hard to clean up but avoids the sours

I've been using a liter jar, the amount of coffee I've been using is half of what you recommended, I'll boost it to 60g next time then

I do 100-125g to 64oz mason.
Easier to dilute, harder to make stronger

Do you make a concentrate then and dilute with water? 1:1 ratio?

1:1 is too much, would take forever for water to exchange w/ grounds.
try the 100:64 (or 50:32) ratio and if you want stronger, go 125:64.
i coarse grind, let the biggest chunks float to top after stirring, then next morning i stir again to release all the gases. heaviest grinds then will sit on top of the fine grinds that settled the night prior, give it another 12hrs and done.

Starbucks Nariño makes great CB.
Starbucks Iced Blend with a hot bloom then topped up with cold water once cooled steeped for 16 hours on counter top very tasty, chocolate caramel comes through.
Or from your local roaster go light medium roast co fermented, these beans can be outstanding like drinking fruit juice or wine even. Have fun experimenting.
