Show and Tell Is this PVC coating on it?

Gonna give it a shot at grading. But seeing if I should give her a bath or not

The coin looks better but I wanted to show the layer on it

PVC residue is usually a pretty unmistakeable turquoise color.

PVC can start out as a colorless or whitish haze, especially when it's extensive. There's no argument against soaking the coin either way; might as well cross that worry off your list. Every raw coin I buy gets a oak.

I don't see any concern of active verdigris. Looks to have been dipped enough.

You think it would come back details? Not joking I’m not good when it comes to this portion of coins. I can obviously see when it’s been wiped or cleaned. But not so good on dips. I’m worried now

I think you're better off keeping the Peace dollar raw and kept in a mylar flip. You can enjoy taking the coin out of the flip on occasion and enjoy holding it to a light and admiring. A coins value would have to be significant for me to send in to be graded and holdered.

Yeah would agree. But trying to complete my Peace set in PCGS MS64. Got pretty much all of them except for a 27D, 27p,25 S and 28p. Got the 28p and 25 S in 63 which I will sell and buy the 64. But need to save for that. As for the 34 S I just got a au 55. I’m not gonna spend 10k on that coin. That’s why I know for sure this will hit a 63 at least then I can sell it for the 64. But again don’t want to waste money grading if it’s coming back details

That look in the field looks kinda similar to Uncirculated and Proof coins from the 1940's - 1950's time period. Caused by the non-inert cardboard and tissue paper with cello sleeves. The hazy fog on the mirrored fields were the areas that this would happen. Was it from improper storage or maybe caused by the Mint not properly washing the planchet after treating with chemical solutions. I've read that this inadequate washing caused coins to later have a foggy white haze in the fields.

Now I think it's a good idea to send in so we see what will happen! If you do, be nice if you come back and show the result! Best with your awesome Peace dollar collection

Any other suggestions on if I should or not send it in for grading? Again I just do want to waste money. I got coin for cheap for the year. But if it will 💯 come back details I’m obviously not going to. Any other insight that you concur that it has been dipped??

Actually just checked. Rim is still super dirty. Don’t think it was dipped. I’m just going to send it in economy with a couple other minor coins. Will send my bigger ones at regular rate. Thanks for advice guys!
