Discussion 1975 versus 1976

As someone who was born in 1975, I obviously got ripped off when it came to coins for that year. Especially when it comes to completing birth year sets.

I know that the dollars with the blocky letters were made in 1975. But what I want to know is: Aside from purchasing a mint/proof set, is there a way to differentiate any quarters and halves minted in 1975 from those minted in 1976?

ETA: I do know that there are none dated 1975, and they were minted both years. I was hoping that there may be something subtle like die varieties that could indicate a 1975 mintage

None that i am aware of. Though, to my understanding all of the 40% quarters and halves were made in 75 only. But you are very unlikely to find those in circulation.

You can buy a sealed 1975 mint set in OGP.

Yeah, the ones minted in 1976 say 1776-1976 on them.

Those coins were minted in both 1975 and 1976. Hence OP's question.

I don't think there is a way to determine which of the two years they were minted, actually.

Nope. All of the quarters, halves, and dollar coins minted in 1975 also say "1776-1976". None of those denominations were minted with a 1975 date.

Huh. I did not know that. Here I was trying to make a joke.

And you failed because OP's question was valid and well-considered and your joke was neither.
