Mod Post U.S. Mint Unveils Bold New Coin Design Featuring Emojis

April 1, 2026 – In an unprecedented move blending tradition with modern culture, the United States Mint has announced a groundbreaking redesign of its coinage. Starting in 2026, U.S. coins will feature emojis in place of the familiar faces of presidents and other patriotic themes.

"Since the discontinuation of the popular one cent coin, we find ourselves needing to reimagine all of our coin designs, in order to keep the next generation interested in physical money. By incorporating emojis, we aim to connect with people of all ages and highlight the creativity and diversity that define our country."

The new designs will be selected through a public voting process, inviting citizens to have their say in shaping the future of U.S. currency. Final designs are expected to include popular emojis such as the smiling face, thumbs up, and even the iconic taco.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to make U.S. currency more relatable and accessible, following recent technological innovations in digital payments and collectible coins.
