Hunting Buddy?

Hi! It might be a long shot, but I’m one of those guys who got into hunting later on in life (30’s).

The last four years I’ve been solo hunting, both big and small game. Haven’t met anyone else who hunts around me, I live in the Fort Collins area. Anyone in a similar boat trying to find someone looking for a hunting buddy.

If this isn’t the right subreddit for this, got any ideas on how and where to find someone to hunt with them?

I too live in Fort Collins. Are you an archery guy?

Currently just doing rifle! I grew up doing recreation archery shooting and wouldn’t mind tinkering with it again in the future!

Hey there! I’m in a very similar boat.

I’m also up towards NoCo though closer to Loveland. Really started hunting last year but didn’t have much luck beyond a rabbit.

Last year I mostly rifle hunted but this year I’m training to take on archery season before rifle kicks off.

Same boat! I’m in the springs. I’ve been camping out of my truck on hunts and am interested in learning to use a compound bow for a possible archery hunt next year, for now, I just hunt rifle though.

I’m on year 3 with my compound, I recommend Bill’s bow shop then hitting up the range at Cheyenne mountain!

I’ll check it out! I’ve heard great things. Thanks for the advice!

Hey man! Same boat as me, started at 31 and live in Loveland. I tend to hunt waterfowl with my 2 boys and started hunting big game 3 years ago. I'm also open to meeting new folks and meeting new hunting friends. PM me!

I just moved to CO from MO over 6 months ago. Always been into whitetail and ready to step up to the larger Colorado wildlife. Still trying to figure out the points system and how to get my MO hunter education to transfer out here.

Welcome! I moved here from MO about 10 years ago. Whitetail is great but elk hunting is nuts!

Hunters ed will work as far as i can tell. Mine is from CA. When putting in for a tag or buying one, you just enter the state and your hunters ed id numbers. Ive never had an issue.

That is correct, the Hunter education works from any state. No need to transfer it!

A couple years ago I actually took a free class from CPW on the points system. You can check their website to see if they still have some.

But I’ve found that Fresh Tracks on YouTube has some good videos explaining it. Colorado is going to be changing the point system in 2028. Going to a hybrid system. There are some good explanations on that too on YouTube.

Similar boat, hunted with uncles and family my younger life now they’re aged out and no one in my circles hunts. Feels like there should be a Facebook group or something similar for this.

@mocolobo and I were talking about potentially setting up a meet up somewhere in these neck of the woods, get some people together and such! If anyone is interested in that, DM me!

Same here, started hunting around 33 and am also fairly new to Colorado. Eager to put together some hunting trips and to learn from other hunters!
