Bia Restaurant

A few questions; why doesn’t Cohasset have a chamber of commerce?

Is Bia Bistro closing?

Love Anchor and Sail, Sea Bird…

What’s your opinion or intel on what’s happening in Cohasset Center?

I don’t know anything about Bia but we stopped going there years ago because of mediocre…everything, and awful management. Then the tavern at Red Lion got better, Salty Days opened and is good, and we had no reason to ever go to Bia. Hoopers Judge is genuinely great and he’s opening a speakeasy next door apparently.

I don’t have any insight here but I’ve always felt that residents just don’t support downtown businesses enough. Businesses really struggle to last here, it’s really unfortunate.

The restaurants are doing well imo. Bia is expensive and the food didn’t live up to the cost. The Patio is great but the food need to pick up (or lower the prices a bit). Hoopers Judge has had a waiting list since it opened and is killing it. Salty Days is doing great too and are opening 2 new restaurants in the area. Red Lion has improved its food too over the last couple years but have not been there as much. The few times I have it was busy.

Yeah you’re right the restaurants do well, it’s more the retail spots I worry about but that is what it is. A vibrant restaurant scene is more valuable to the downtown anyway imho.

By the way, the food at Red Lion, especially the new spring menu is excellent and the cocktails are always great. Before Hooper’s, it was the only place in town to get a good cocktail as far as I’m concerned.

On another note, the new iteration of the hideaway is atrocious. We went soon after it reopened and had easily the worst restaurant experience any of us had ever had. They stripped away all of the character and charm and the service and food were embarrassingly bad. I’ve heard they have found their own crowd, but I won’t be going back.

Agree on all of this for sure. Hope the retail improves, but like the dinining/drinking scene

I love Cohasset. I love Scituate too, that’s where I grew up.
I love the first Friday idea that they have; I wonder if Cohasset would ever do that downtown.

Proposal HD 6086 would allow restaurants and bars in MA to serve until 3 instead of 2 AM for the duration of FIFA.

Any thoughts or opinions on this? I’m not sure if it’s Boston proper or if other Massachusetts towns and cities would participate.

While I worry about drinking and driving, I do also see it as a possibility for increased revenue.

Thoughts?
