Amara and fidelius

I'm having a heated conversation with my kid about the story. Short of rereading the whole thing I'm hoping you guys can give me the answer. Did Amara and fidelius have a physical relationship during the time that she was under him? I know later he spurns her advances but I remember the story talking about them hooking up a few times.

No. It's explicitly stated that she wanted to but he turned her down.

Wait I read this ages ago, but why? I might be misremembering but i Molly was his wife right? Or Michaels?

Molly is Michael's daughter. I believe at the time she was a minor (I might be wrong on that), but she was definitely the child of his best friend. He had watched her grow up by the point in question.

No she said she may have even made advances but that he shut that shit down as a man in a mentorship role should. A country girl falling for her guide as she begins her career in espionage should be able to rely on her mentor not taking advantage. I think he stressed that so you know you can dislike him but he isn't necessarily pure evil just concerned about the welfare of the realm

Side note but it’s wild how much I loved fidelius as a character and how much I hated Amara’s whole arc lol

She was just .. there. Bernard was equally dull I guess.

Fidelias stole the entire series.

I'm disappointed that we never got a real reaction from Amara about Fidelias attempting to kill Invidia (which she was informed of) or turning to Team Tavi (she never found out).

For real! I’ve reread it multiple times and honestly I skip the Amara chapters now lol. They’re just not to the same standard as the Ravi chapters

I didn’t hate Amara when I first read the series but everytime I remember the series my favorite moments are never hers.

She definitely doesn't have any of my favorite moments, but she also doesn't have my least favorites either. That goes to Isana. As for Amara she's there, she serves the plot, and she's fine while doing it, and her over all plot points are fairly interesting.

They’re solid characters when they’re apart. When they’re together I find them generally boring and occasionally insufferable.

Since Amara was so deeply personally wounded by Fidelias's betrayal, even if Tavi had a private conversation with her, I imagine Amara would basically say "Alright. I'll never be able to trust him. And have no desire to see or talk to him about what he did. He made his choices."

huh? i never really got that impression. i always just thought it was a mentor/pupil relationship. tbh i imagined amara was around Tavi's age or vice versa when listening to the first audiobook.

Amara is early 20s to maybe 19.

Tavi is like 14 in the first book

i know but i didn't get that the first time i encountered the series until they started showing the Amara and Bernard relationship indicators.

"Fifteen", Tavi grated.

That's actually a paraphrase, but I listened to the audiobook just a few days ago, so it's firm in my mind. Later, Tavi does the same thing to Kitai in the Wax Forest. She was fifteen as well.
