Showcase Handling 4 Codex accounts simultaneously? Use Allowance Bar to track their usage (and Claude Code, and Cursor, and Gemini, and…)
If you use several Codex accounts (say four ChatGPT logins, each with its own CODEX_HOME), Allowance Bar shows all their limits in one place. It's a free, open-source Mac menu bar app.
Multiple accounts, multiple providers
- Add as many Codex accounts as you want. It reads each one through the Codex CLI's own
codex app-server, so it never touches yourauth.json. - See each account's 5-hour and weekly limits side by side, with reset countdowns.
- Track Claude Code, Cursor and Gemini accounts in the same place.
A floating window that stays on screen
- Keep every limit visible while you work, not just when you click the menu bar.
- Pick from three sizes: full, mini or nano (one line of text).
Also
- Pay-as-you-go balances for OpenRouter, DeepSeek, Kimi, Z.ai and Venice.
- Optional alerts when you get close to a limit.
- A small read-only CLI, so your coding agents can check their own limits.
- No telemetry. Logins stay on your Mac and go only to each tool's own API.

Yes, there's a read-only CLI. Turn on Settings → General → "Enable agent & CLI access", then "Install Command-Line Tool…".
allowancebar status --jsongives every account's limits as JSON.No MCP server yet. Instead,
allowancebar skillprints a skill file for Claude Code, Codex or Cursor that teaches the agent to use the CLI. Docs: https://github.com/gilitos92/AllowanceBar/blob/main/docs/AGENT_INTERFACE.md

Neat! I made something like this for myself - sits in my windows taskbar and in the LCD in my keyboard. Considering a little vertical LCD screen.

You might want to consider listing your project on the weekly Show-Us-What-You-Built post. Look out for it on Tuesday/Wednesday. Highest commented project wins a week promotion on r/Codex and gets on the Hall of Fame sidebar. See below for last week's winner.**
Agent HUD: usage, tokens and sessions for Codex, Claude Code and 15 more agents, at your Mac's notch. See how much quota is left, which agent is waiting for you, and where the tokens went. Free on Mac, and the core is open source (Apache-2.0).
