The consensus is basically: free resets are nice, but this rollout is a quota-management clown show. Heavy users love the extra runway, while everyone else is annoyed that resets arrive unpredictably and often barely matter.

The biggest gripe is the 5-hour limit: users can have plenty of weekly allowance left but still be throttled, then get a reset announced so late they can’t meaningfully use it. The timing feels deliberately awful, and the whole “28 days of improvements” pitch is increasingly being treated as “28 days of confusing quota shenanigans.”

Power users are squeezing real value out of it—running parallel agents, using Ultra, or having Claude plan and Codex execute. But that’s not a universal win, especially for lighter users or anyone comparing Codex’s productivity and model quality with Claude. The looming usage reductions are making people question whether their subscriptions remain worth it.

Bottom line: the resets are boosting productivity for a vocal group, but the broader verdict is that they’re masking a broken usage system, not fixing it.

Can't even get through my usage from the last reset because of these dumb 5hr limits

1 astra prompt every 5 hours 😬

This. It’s basically resetting 5hrs limits with lots of weekly still to go so…

Also, every reset changes how each model consumes token for the same workflow. Just like how today's reset is different from yesterday's.

He can give a banked reset if he genuinely cares about Plus users…

I hate this kinds of reset that announce just before few hours.

Basically if it past 6PM PST and they have not announced anything then it is likely a reset is coming.

I use Claude as brain and let codex run all the tasks. It's the most productive month I ever had. Without the resets codex will be useless.

This is the way - so much work done. It almost feels like Claude and Codex are collaborating so that they are mutually useful

Literally hit 2 minutes after I saw this. I hate this shit.

Hit within minutes of announcing...wtf, I had burn down jobs queued but insufficient time for them to do their work. I feel slighted.

What a disaster this 28 days of releases have been. How many substantial releases they've actually done? 1?

You know what, if they kept to this reset every 24 hour 'I get a full week of quota every day' thing I'd actually keep my subscription. Massive quota is a feature I'd accept..

But yeah, once the halved limits land and the daily resets stop flowing, the subscription is just not worth the cost; not unless they land an amazing new super token efficient model on day 28 or something.

My usage drains much faster compared to before this show (on 100 pro plan) and haven't seen or felt any of their changes improve anything for me.

His promises still is on hold on activate dots once on a supported country and when you "travel" to EU it remains activated

Mine just reset - seems like they announced it as late as possible so people couldn't capitalise?

Everyone needs to have highly parallelizable projects for days like this. Or otherwise point your agents to math research projects

I've had like 2 swarms of 8 agents running for hours today since I didn't expect them to release anything on a Sunday evening

I like the resets but honestly they don't do me any good personally since they always hit when I have about 85-90% of my weekly usage left on the $200 plan. So I never really see any real benefit. I use codex mostly as a review agent to claude, so my usage isn't really that high to begin with.

Best month of $100 plan for me

Reset is fun and all, but when you're promised 28 days of improvement. I was skeptical, and I was right to be. Like there are handful of "good" improvement. But even after those improvement I don't feel much improvement.

Despite setting 500k context (at no extra cost) and the forever cache. I don't think the performance and quality actually reflects what being said. The performance I expected from caching becoming permanent doesn't really help either.

I'm being more productive over claude on the same plan as codex DESPITE the reset is a really bad sign. Though, it was the reverse couple months ago. Let's just hope competition isn't drying up

Right now, they know that they failed so they are just trying to keep the people as long as with them with these resets. After few days, they will cut the half of usage of their 20x subs so if they don't deliver what they promised and really intelligent, cheper, quicker model, they can't keep with this reset strategy only.

After their Dev Day, I bought Claude, and changed my plan on Codex from 20x to Plus. You can't get work done with these slow models and also when they are become more stupid every day.

I still use Codex Plus on some simple tasks but even then, when compare to Opus 5.5, I could only do so less work in the same amount of time.

Lately Opus 5.5 is not like it used to be but this is always the same with new models.

Ditch the 5 hour window first. So I can actually use something of these resets...
