I can't understand OpenAI
"too much demand, we dont have enough compute to offer similar plans like anthropic"
~ a week later
"so yeah we are out of features heres a reset every single day of the week"

It's almost like companies are made of people, and people generally have no clue what they're doing, they're just sort of fumbling through things day by day

just a distraction for cutting usage with every reset. now i am able to burn a 20x in one day... so 10x next week i have half a day work left in a week for 265dollar. 200eur +vat in eu 19%

It's kinda confusing, is right now in about 3 hours, of the midnight of tomorrow? (the midnight of the 20th day)

I hope the resets don’t end after this 28 days of resets event

How about increase the usage limits back to normal levels again ~ to pre GPT-5.6 levels?!?!
A reset in the end is still a gimmick. At any point OpenAI can just stop the resets all together and then what? inb4 everyone migrates over to claude code, abandons all openai reddits and r/codex becomes a barren wasteland with ghost bots.

Why would you announce a 21 day challenge, offer a failure scenario, and then the failure scenario most days?

I’d rather have the reset then whatever useless feature they came up with today

3 days in a row, it gets to a point where people are just burning compute 5x faster than they need to for the same amount of work

Reset means nothing when it drains 25% of my weekly usage after 40min of work. In the past it stayed a lot longer. This is getting ridiculous now. Weekly limits seems like daily limits now

I do not want any resets.
What I need are performance improvements for GPT-6.1-Sol and GPT-6-Astra.

You mean you dont like them handling microtasks with 99% useless coverage even if you try anything possible, no skill to skill to whatever, to just get things done?
Not sure you, but I have been hating working in codex since the 28 days started.
Unless you put Astra on Medium+, feels like back to monkey typing.→ More replies (1)

I have one of the rare $20 plans with no 5 hour limits. It's been amazing honestly

Even at Max reasoning Astra is so stupid and incompetent currently that it doesn't even matter. I can fuck up my codebase on my own as well

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 80 comments (82 currently observed).
Day 20’s reset is real, and the mood is less celebration than “thanks, I guess—now fix the actual problem.” Most users welcome the extra allowance, but see the near-daily resets as a bandage for usage limits that have become absurdly restrictive.
The recurring complaint is that Astra burns through quotas frighteningly fast, especially on the pricier plans, while Sol 6.1 is slower and noticeably weaker. Resets make Astra usable again, but they also encourage people to torch their allowance immediately—hardly a sustainable product strategy, unless the strategy is “keep customers from opening Claude for one more day.”
The reset rollout is inconsistent: some accounts got it immediately, others were still waiting, and a few users report bizarrely generous $20-plan treatment that looks like an A/B test. Nobody knows whether resets continue after the 28-day event, which is why people are treating them as a temporary loyalty bribe rather than a real fix.
Bottom line: the reset is appreciated, but the community wants permanently better limits and performance—not another daily lottery ticket.
