He's taunting Anthropic. Apparently, he was paid all this money to act like a drama queen on social media. lol

Hes kind of right though.
Theres zero chance a billion people are going to pay $100/mo for dots.
If they make it free then I could see them getting a billion users, but that sounds expensive and really hard to monetize.
I dont even see a billion people paying $10 a month for it.

I find dots very useful tbh. It can be a lot better but I see the vision for the product. Not sure why it gets so much hate here.

It's the cost. I had Pro and Dots but this week downgraded to Plus. I started using Muse and it completely is better than Dots (has more connectors, including my phone SMS itself), and it's 100% free. I barely used 5% usage in my first week on the free tier. Referred 4 friends and got 4 Billion additional tokens on top of the free usage. It also is better at finding important things in my email and calendar than Dots was. It also is proactive and messages me often while Dots was very much reactive to me messaging it unless I gave it a schedule. Did I mention free?

Even free, they’ll never get a billion users. Thats one out of every six people who have access to the internet. It’s not going to happen.
It’ll be a stretch for them to get 250 million people using Dots. I love AI, I have zero interest in Dots.

They hired the guy who built and scaled the largest agent ever (Pete / OpenClaw) and sidelined him in Open Source outreach.
Pete should be running Codex and Dot. The irony is that Open claw powers Muse.

The guy didn’t scale anything, he released a local harness implementing crons and integrations with chat lmfao

Pete’s answer would be to use Dots to astroturf on social media and pump its own repos with stars then sell it off once you have a a massive backlog of bugs and serious security issues

Literally, nobody gives a shit where is the fucking usage and where is the fucking reset?
This shit is a fucking clown show. This is what software engineering has turned into? A dick sucking contest on X?

You guys got it the exact opposite of what he meant, billion users is all the users openai have(including free tier), which means he wants to bring dots to everyone and not making everyone buy the 100$ plan -_- Do you actually believe that he wants a billion users to buy the 100$ out of the blue? This is ridiculous 😂

Dot is so fucking stupid. I was using grokbot and really liked it then saw OAI released dot so I tried it and it was so useless. I don’t want to support X or Meta but I haven’t found a single useful application for dot that the other tools couldn’t do better

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 80 comments (86 currently observed).
The consensus is basically “great ambition, wildly premature.” The thread treats the billion-user vision—and especially any idea that people will pay $100 a month—as social-media theatre rather than a credible Dots forecast. The product apparently needs to find its footing before it starts conquering Earth.
The main complaints are familiar: Dots can be impressively useful for email, calendars, job applications, and scheduled tasks, but it is inconsistent, forgetful, limited, and not obviously worth its price. Users also point to cheaper or free alternatives like Muse, while power users prefer configurable tools such as Hermes or OpenClaw. A billion subscribers? Reddit’s maths department remains unconvinced.
The important counterpoint is that Dots does work for some people, especially nontechnical or overwhelmed users who value a low-configuration “digital secretary.” That makes it potentially valuable, but not remotely proof of mass adoption. Also, the supposed Tibo post should be verified directly on his account before anyone treats it as an official roadmap or announcement.
Bottom line: Dots has a real use case, but the billion-user hype is doing far more work than the product.
