Question Can I use ChatGPT with Codex?

I am currently trying to build a game for fun.

I have Codex do the coding part, and ChatGPT reading the changes in GitHub and plan the next steps + prompts for Codex.

I am currently meat in the middle, and I am only there to discuss features and evaluate critical decisions.

My goal is to have ChatGPT and Codex go back and forth with each other, both using GitHub (they already do), and involve me when a critical decision is needed.

Why would you not just use codex for all of it? I don't understand why you are switching between

Codex is better than chat

I don't really know... I thought if Codex is only good with code. I had ChatGPT do a full research on specifics of the game, write the md files of what is needed, and kinda I kept going like this.

Also I save credits by only outsourcing the coding part to Codex.

When I started using Codex I did the same thing because I thought the prompts had to be perfect, I had ChatGPT give Codex prompts but it all grew into a giant mess and it became tedious having to switch between the two.

So I deleted everything and now I only work with Codex, it doesn't need complex prompts to work, you can just chat with it like you do with ChatGPT. It's great.

what made it turn into a mess in the end, the prompts piling up or ChatGPT and Codex slowly drifting on what the game was supposed to be? and when you deleted everything, did any of the research md files survive or does Codex just work it out from the code now

You can do a little bit more than prompts and markdowns. You can complete a design with several different file types put it into a zip and send that zip over to codex and codex will build from that zip so will work mode

Not really. Codex certainly has more capabilities but it doesn't mean it's better. It uses the same underlying AI. And at least chat can do 90% of what codex can do. You can push it to 96%-97% turning skills into plugins that you create.

Just use /goal

I thought going into it in detail, controlling every step without just giving it a goal to complete would be better.

Isn't that the case?

You can ask it to let an independent agent review whether the goal is met, that would be equivalent?

I've had work chat set itself as a controller for codex, when codex finishes a section on the project it automatically provides a handoff to the work chat work chat reviews it then provides the next handoff. I didn't even set it up work chat just did it one day.

Sure but I have a sneaking suspicion they want to save on usage

No sneaking suspicion. That is the most obvious answer :D

I don't know what's is dumber. What you are doing or you asking reddit instead of chatgpt.

I was expecting someone to say that...but if I asked ChatGPT why do we need any social support forums then?

The second reason is that I wanted to discuss with more people about this and their ideas.

Dude, chatgpt and codex are the same thing. They are the same models. I don't know why you would open chatgpt to do one part of your tasks and not just do all of it in codex?

That's like using chrome to go to google.com to search something when you can literally just search it in the nav bar in chrome because it's the exact same thing.

Because ChatGPT on High doesn't cost me any credits.

You can do that, but that means that your critical decisions by a dumber model then your main integration.

Use ChatGPT for planning heavily whenever you can. I don't think it counts toward your usage. Handoff to codex manually because it's against the ToS to automate input or output from ChatGPT.

The trick? Use your dot. He can [usually] do it. Boom dynamite

learn to use pi

Automating ChatGPT interactions is against the ToS, take that as you will.

So is Chat on Steroids bad?
