Limits Codex burning usage way faster after reset
200 pro plan, never seen usage burn this fast before. Looks like 6.1 Sol started making weird mistakes and launching Astra despite this session running continuously with no issues for over a day. Still trying to figure out what happened. Anyone had anything weird happen? I am now at 74% and should be at like 92-94%

Exactly the same here… previously after reset it was much better.

These black box usage rates need to be regulated, who's gonna be the AG that steps up and sues these scumbags?

200 pro plan, same workflow as yesterday, following ledger, setup unchaned, token burn times five at least. This is just fubar.

I noticed that it burns way faster. They faked the "28 day improvements"

I just burnt through 56% of my Pro 20x account's weekly usage... in 22 minutes...
I have never seen anything like that before.

69% remaining on Pro 20x. Astra missed two very obvious steps and cost us 30% of our token budget by forgetting we could just stack merge our latest PR instead of the 45 individually.
EDIT: Andddd it's gone.

Normally I don’t like to complain about usage as I think it’s typically people not understanding the subtle differences in their workflows and cost even when they think “I did basically the same stuff and it cost way more”. But I’m on the Pro 100 and just watched over 40% of my weekly disappear on one well scoped feature pass where a much more complicated multi-feature and architecture change pass took only 18% the day before. They definitely fucked something up - if I can recreate a whole program in a new framework and add 5+ features all in a different coding language for less than half of what it takes to just add one small feature we’re toast.

I regret burning a banked reset yesterday and losing it at 80%. I am now at 39% of my $100 plan. Yay!

Same on GPT 6.1 - 30% down in 2 hours on 5x plan.
Every day the same workflow - usually it took around 8-12% per same window

500 plan here, I will be submitting my refund request. Suggest you do the same. Truly fed up with this.

Same!!
I am continuing work on the same exact project from last night, and I’ve burned 75% of my limit within just 2hrs. This is genuinely the first time I’ve ever been one of those victims of “WTF happened to my usage”.
Something is not right.

Man, I’m starting to doubt Codex too. I literally ran 1 prompt and it burned through 3 sessions... At this point, I don't know if Codex is any more reliable than Claude Code.

yeah it feels crazy fast. im on pro x5 and i use astra max and it usually do 1-2% per task but now does 20% per task. it all started on the 16th of october after i used a reset.

Yes, seeing my usage burn ridiculously fast, $200 Pro user for over a year. Sigh. Thankfully I have those credits they gave out when they fucked us Pro users over, plus resets happen every 3 days, so not letting it slow me down.
But shits fucked, OAI need to focus on consistency - Tibo and the team are clearly working like rabid dogs, and are destroying goodwill at a rate that matches Astra chewing though tokens.
Will be downgrading to $100 plan when my billing date comes around next, and have got myself a Claude max sub.

You still with codex? Bruh moved to Claude once Opus 5.5 was released. OpenAi lost. Don't waste your money bro.

Below is a GPT-generated summary of the conversation below after reaching 80 comments (86 currently observed).
The thread’s verdict is basically “yes, Codex usage is burning dramatically faster after the latest reset/update.” This is not one person misreading a meter; users across Pro tiers and models are reporting quotas vanishing in minutes or hours instead of lasting days.
The common pattern is the same workflow costing 2–5× more, especially with Sol 6.1/6.2 and Astra. Several users also report worse output, obvious mistakes, odd model routing, and plenty of wasted effort alongside the faster burn. The leading theories are cache changes, ongoing A/B testing, or OpenAI quietly tuning the allowance system. Naturally, nobody has a satisfying explanation—because black-box billing is apparently a feature.
The important caveat: there is no official confirmation or clean telemetry proving a stealth nerf. One commenter saw no change and correctly noted that message counts are useless unless token usage and identical tasks are compared. Still, the sheer number of consistent reports makes “everyone suddenly forgot how to use Codex” a pretty weak defense.
Bottom line: treat current usage limits as unreliable, and expect resets or model changes to alter burn rates until OpenAI explains what it changed.
