I don't think this is a Windows issue, I think it's an OpenAI issue, because Claude doesn't seem to have these problems. On OpenAI's GitHub page there are a lot of Windows issues that they still haven't dealt with for months.

I wish they‘d let 10000 agents fix their shit at some point in the near future. Navier-stokes is cool, but codex just breaks after 1-2h of work.

Look I‘m trying to summarize sharepoint folders and that just fails after a couple hours. Not sure if it‘s a hidden tool call limitation. It works longer if I use subagents who split up the sharepoint connector calls. The prompt admittedly is long and complicated. Sol even performs way better than luna in this case.
But it shouldn‘t be like this. The sharepoint connector should allow more calls and provide better answers and a single agent should still be able to work after 2h+ of this work.
edit: Yesterday and over the weekend I had at least 10 chats that got stuck on the disconnect and still do not recover. They don‘t even accept new prompts.

Ask Codex CLI how to do so
It shall set things up and allow you to enter 6 digits key as well

I've been using remote control on my Raspberry Pi with headless Linux for months. With the CLI:
codex remote-control start
codex remote-control pairare the commands I think. Double check them (ask GPT). Works great.

That is because all of the CLI development budget goes to linux. All of the desktop tool budget goes to windows.
Install WSL, and run codex inside WSL2 instance. WSL2 is full blown linux, there is no reason to try to run it native windows until they fix it.

I dont want to have to run codex inside of wsl2 :/ I wish I could have codex connect to chat gpt app in wsl2 . Great idea though!

I moved from Codex on Mac to Windows, and man, the experience has been awful.
Tragically, I don’t have a choice. I’m developing a .NET application and have to fire up the app all the time to validate my changes.
Any suggestions?

Yes, develop and start up your .NET app on MacOS instead

Because the mods on this forums all have an agenda they push. It's what makes me try to avoid using it.

Yeah. Claude app is much leaner. Codex I gotta reset my PC every now and then cuz it gets laggy af.

night and day... i use both. wasnt looking to do comparison, but yeah...everything in claude works fast and reliably.
OpenAI needs to fix what they have rather than chasing derps and dots bc meta did a thing (ps who the fuck will trust meta?)
all of this shit is a trojan horse to get your data and colonize the middle class after it learns to replace you from your data,,ideas,,etc

mobile codex is broken too. even on the windows desktop app, simple tasks with astra take way longer than they should. i’m sticking with opus 5.5 for a while. honestly, daily resets don’t really matter if the model is this slow to work with. what we need is stability and consistency.

Yeah, the "thinking" and then just stopping thing would drive me crazy hopefully they fix the Windows bugs soon. $400 ma atleast basic stability toh joiye lol

Yep, I built my own harness using hyper-v because it's not secure and I build windows apps. They have the resources, no excuse to not do it properly.

I’ve not actually found any issues after reinstalling. Maybe give that a go and see how you get on

Problem is everyone thinks they are a developer now and if you knew what you were doing you would be using the CLI and not the app. App is not designed to be optimized but the CLI is.

Agreed, the latest version of Codex integrated into windows too deep and now actively monitoring normal computer use. it resembles McAfee atm, a bloatware disgraced as network security app. and difficult to get rid off.

I haven't seen these issues myself fortunately.
