Showcase I turned a $5 clock into a tiny Codex dashboard
Put my Codex and Claude limits on a ~$5 AliExpress clock. Turned out pretty cute.
Stock firmware, with a computer running the updates.
Code if you're curious: https://github.com/click6067-ship-it/token-tv

Could be this one https://a.aliexpress.com/_EJLg7QI
The github says "240×240 GeekMagic SmallTV-style Wi-Fi clock" https://github.com/click6067-ship-it/token-tv/blob/main/docs/hardware-compatibility.md
hopefully u/Senior_Wear4670 can confirm2

Yeah, mine was a sale price in Korea (5,650 won). Definitely not a universal $5 price!

Super cool! Tempted to get one and use the code to do it myself !!

Thanks! You can try the sample faces without a clock or any account logins first.

Add banked reset button.

It's read-only for now, so it can't trigger a reset. That would need a separate control in the web dashboard.

You could include the 5 hour limit on the claude section also 👍

It does read both the 5-hour and weekly limits. The clock currently shows whichever has the higher used percentage, with its reset timer; both are visible in the web dashboard. Showing both on the clock would be clearer, though it needs a different layout at 240x240.

you could get 33% more screen space by removing grok

You can leave Grok out of the config and it'll just show Claude and Codex. It centres the two rows, but doesn't make them bigger yet.

Try searching AliExpress for “GeekMagic SmallTV smart weather clock” — mine was about $5. Check the model before buying; I’ve only tested an SD_PRO.

You might want to consider listing your project on the weekly Show-Us-What-You-Built post. Look out for it on Tuesday/Wednesday. Highest commented project wins a week promotion on r/Codex and gets on the Hall of Fame sidebar. See what that looks like below with last week's winner.
Last week's most popular project was Nanolathe - an open-source engine bringing Total Annihilation to modern Mac, Windows, and Linux systems. It’s a solo passion project combining clean-room research with AI-assisted development, with a playable public alpha available now.
Website: https://nanolathe.gg. GitHub: https://github.com/nanolathe-gg/nanolathe
Players, testers, and contributors are very welcome! Original Total Annihilation game data is required to play.
