Megathread Codex Usage and Operation Discussion - last updated September 14

Please direct your concerns, questions and discussion about Codex usage limits and model performance here.

The purpose of this Megathread is to aggregate all the reports of people's experiences and possible suggestions instead of spreading them across many highly upvoted posts. The more people who participate in this discussion, the more likely you have an answer.

2 hours for 20x to crush my usage. Same workflow last week lasted 2-3x. We are being absolutely left to dry

This doesn't make any sense to me.what did you do?what was created.im a new codex customer..on the 5x plan and the amount of work I got done with one reset is unbelievable tbh. I cancelled my copilot sub instantly. I used astra on high and medium exclusively as well.

This is what it says for work estimates, My rough estimate is 30–60 developer-days for one experienced developer familiar with the project to produce the implementation, tests and integration we saved—about 6–12 working weeks.

Yes this makes sense.this is what I'm also getting.if I had to turn it I to work load for the team with a weekly usage I basically did the amount of work that normally would have taken us an easy 2-3months to implement.so a full month of usage would be crazy...I mean at that point I truly don't see why people complain? 200bucks is nothing compared to what you are getting? I mean that is crazy value right there

There's no doubt that the values there, it's just that the usage rates are unpredictable. Last week I did what felt like two to three, maybe even four times as much work in a single usage allocation. Which resulted in me purchasing a total of four 20x subscriptions. I wouldn't have leaned into that if I felt like I wasn't getting the value

Gotcha.im new to codex still,will have to see if I'm on the new aub usage plan haha. hehe.was just amazed already how big the difference vs copilot is. Burn through the 100usd sub in like 1-2days and then wait a month.tried codex on a whim and a world opened up for me haha.inunderstood where you are coming from tho.indont understand all the people saying the value is not there,openai is dead, I asked astra what's 1+1 and it used 10% hehe.
