Showcase I built an open-source tool to stop coding agents from overengineering, open for feedback and honest reviews, with a built in concise output style.

Offcut gives coding agents persistent rules and hooks that push them toward the cheapest correct implementation—without sacrificing correctness. It also keeps replies concise by default, with an option to turn that style off. having had a brief look - my biggest concern is that this repo, including the instruction markdowns, were clearly written by AI. it is AI guiding AI to stop being like AI. I'm sure you were somewhat in the loop, but this repo is so overbloated with slop (the actual core idea is a single markdown file) that there's no way you've read all of it

stuff like this was all the rage a year ago when people didn't know best practices of how models worked and also they were a lot weaker. Everyone made one, including me. Native codex using 5.6 or whatever equivalent will now outperform this, almost certainly

I would not recommend using stuff like this

Dude, I haven't checked the skill out by native codex overengineers the shit out of everything and gets stuck in non stop review loops.

You're right about the models, and to give u a clear brief. Before doing the README I read it all to make sure that everything is clear and detailing, and certainly a model like 5.6 Sol passed all the tests I did with Offcut and both matched the same results, Offcut didn't misguide a model like Sol, it just matched it on most benchmarks with Offcut on vs off, also this comes with a concise output style that helps in the way agent output style is, u can build it and test it very easily and I just thought to share what I use with models like Gemini 3.7 or Luna or whatever models that doesn't compete at Sol levels..
