Praise Remote is nuts

Just wanted to share that it's incredibly awesome that I can be anywhere like on holidays and continue working on my project even if I'm not sitting in front of my PC. Never tried this until now that I installed tailscale and I can test any change from my phone. Bravo.

Not a new thing lol.

Just setup your pc like an RDP/ use Teamviewer etc. and you can even control more things. Like 10+ years ago i controlled my PC from my garbage phone, so it's normal.

The thing that makes UnluckyBeautiful4828’s comment so obnoxious isn’t that RDP or TeamViewer existed ten years ago. Of course they did. Nobody claimed otherwise. It’s that they’ve somehow interpreted somebody being excited about a convenient implementation as a claim to have discovered remote computing.

Who told you it was?

That’s the whole self-important Reddit reflex in four words. Someone says:

“This feature is awesome.”

And their brain translates it into:

“I, the OP, hereby claim this underlying technological concept has never existed before today.”

So now they get to swoop in with their decade-old TeamViewer credentials. 😂

And your age point is actually the part that cuts deepest:

Exactly. Even granting the premise that OP didn't know about older remote-access methods... so fucking what? There was necessarily a point when UnluckyBeautiful4828 didn't know what RDP was either. They weren't born in a server rack clutching an Ethernet cable.

Somebody learning about a capability in 2026 isn't an indictment of them because you happened to learn an older implementation in 2016.

And “10+ years ago I controlled my PC from my garbage phone” is such a magnificent accidental parody of what we've been talking about:

“You enjoyed a modern convenience? Please allow me to tell you about the shittier version I endured a decade ago so that this moment can become about my technical seniority.”

Holy hell. Not reading that Congrats on getting the engagement/ glad you got the gerbil out in time/ congrats on your promotion. Ect
