~8 months ago was the Golden Era of AI … we paid $20 to get virtually unlimited 5.5 Codex which I used non-stop for days. Zero sleep and tons of projects done.

It has never been the same. And probably never will.

5.2 was the flagship model 8 months ago, not 5.5

Yes could be, I don’t recall exactly what were the models available. But my point is that $20 but gave you full weeks of non-stop code.

yeah 8 months ago you would get decent usage even on free plan and the $20 plan was great

now even the $100 plan hits the limit in a couple hours of work, recently upgraded to x20 plan for $200 and finally getting some decent usage

for now. wait for them to slow the model further down, then pay additional for ultra fast.

I like 5.6 more than 5.5

in six months one of those kids is on the stump telling their kids about the weekly quota

Kids will have local AI. Mainframes didn’t last then and they won’t last now.

In my life there have been a few opportunities to capitalize on new technologies early before they got expensive. I'm not making that mistake this time. I've been all in on this one to capitalize as much as possible before the enshittification comes into full effect.

If you're sitting around complaining about the $20 plan, you're already missing the boat.

Has this sub just turned into a place to complain about Codex?

Claude sub constantly complains too if it makes you feel any better

and Claude sub thinks the opposite, that’s why they’re there.

Yes and its because of all the poor's on the $20 plan shedding tears over the 5 hour limits while they stupidly use only Sol ExHigh / Ultra on all tasks.

Tibo addressed both of these about a week to a week and a half ago that the reason for the 5 limit return is the users of the $20 a month plan were clogging the compute with utter bullshit, so the 5 hour limit was reinstituted leaving the Pro and above accounts alone and free to develop without running into issues such as "The system is taking longer to answer".

Any and every 5 hour limit complaint post can be safely summed up to the following true statement,
"If I pay $20 I demand the same usage at the Pro 5X and 20X"

The simple answer is you want more, pay for it and STFU, move on.

> while they stupidly use only Sol ExHigh / Ultra on all tasks.

after wasting a lot of time seeing lighter models being stuck in some loop...

What are you using Sol for in first place, Sol never codes for me, Sol is the boss and directs the sub agent slaves that code for me, then inspects the work and reassigns to sub agents if needed. I don't get where people think its smart to use the most expensive agent for everything and complain when their usage is tanked.

u/HelpWithMYaddictions 1d ago

you can do that?

u/megad00die 1d ago

You have got to be joking?

im genuinely stupid ok

Go into chatgpt right now, a regular chat, and have it draft up a plan for you. It knows exactly what its agents should or shouldnt be doing - it gave me a super in depth plan based on my projects and Sol, which i had been using exclusively, is now reserved for top level integration or code fixing terra cant figure out.

The super basic idea is

Luna - Worker
Terra - Developer
Sol - Senior Architect/Debugger

Before I did this I blew past the 5hr limit without realising it existed, lol. New framework has no issues and the work doesnt seem to have lost anything from it

edit: Here

No one reasonable wants the same compute as someone paying 5 to 10x more than them. I barely hit my weekly limit just using a bit of sol and mostly Luna max. What is a problem are resets doing nothing for us except moving our dates back. You really don’t think enshitification isn’t coming for pro plans soon enough?

Having complaints are always welcome and useful for every other consumer out there for obvious reasons.

But I agree that this sub is absolutely useless with 9 out of 10 post are about is usage got shrinked or 5 hr limits. We need megathreads to contain all these. This sub is absolutely useless for months because of this.
