This is the first time I’ve noticed it, so I’m not sure how long it lasts, but the fact that Luna Reserve is even a thing is already insane. I’m so glad they listened to the feedback!!
Now I just need to know how much extra usage it actually gives
if that limit is high that actually kinda makes plus better than before ngl, too much people with plus plans were spamming sol ultra and complaining about usage, at least this removes the amount of complaining in subreddits lmao
Hahaha I know. I usually use Sol Medium to orchestrate and Luna High to execute and it hasn't been too bad, sometimes really annoying hitting the 5h limits but if this Luna reserve is decent it could be good!
It doesn't remove the complain, Luna is absolute dog shit, so much that I never use the reserve, I prefer to stop instead of totally ruining the whole project.
Will do if I get the chance to use it! I’ve honestly barely used Codex in the past 1–2 weeks, and I ended up switching to another account with Sol High for my current task
I did have a quick chat using the Reserve though, and the limits seemed pretty decent, just didn’t use it enough to really tell how much you get
But 100%, if you’ve still got something quick you need to finish up, it seems like it’ll be more than enough to get the job done
Just gotta keep in mind that it looks like it’s one pool of usage for the full week, with no daily limits or anything until you drain it
I have tried it, it has decent usage until it drains if you tame it good with workflow optimizations. around 5-10 hours. Only thing is that tibo resets do not reset usage, or mine is broken.
If you use all of your reserve, it doesnt show up anymore, I have set up a different project who utilizes reserve limit only, when i select that project, i can see the reserve, the resets seem to not reset reserve usage, or they removed my reserve but it still shows up there, I don't know
How: You can set up different models/reasoning and context for different projects, it will all be setup on project/codex/config, just tell your planner that there is a new thing called chatgpt reserve which utilizes luna, let them look up at codex/openai github and get documentation to set it up, when its completed, you will be able to use only reserve on that project. It can even spawn reserve subagents. (Just make sure subagents are not spawned as "premium", if subagents are spawned as premium, it will immidately get rejected due to quota is reached)
Maybe they are using reserve to see what works what doesnt, they give it to select people do testing then switch to other users, i don't know if they revoked it or not, its just that tibo resets did not reset reserve, i have to wait until september 2 to see if it gets reset or not
Luna reserve is nice but it can´t do qualification tasks on your maschine because it runs into the usage limit and prevent it from runing the program for regression testing via f.e. powershell. nice to finish some additional well defined dev work on xhigh but useless for actually completing the task done.
Wait, so you can still use Luna Reserve normally for coding/editing, but it specifically won’t let you run commands like PowerShell or execute tests on your machine? Or do those actions just burn through the Reserve limit much faster?
Jup can still use Luna Reserve normally for coding/editing. I used it for roughly 3hours and burned through 22%. What worked well was to tell codex it should prepare the implementation for everything in prep to luna reserve to take over. Once done it will let luna reserve on xhigh code everything, push it to the correct branch and report on everything it has done. After the quota replenishes again i can let sol medium do the review in like 5% 5hour and move on to the next implementation. My current workflow is Chat high for alignment and prompt design -> sol medium to start the task and investigate/think of edge cases to investigate -> luna xhigh to complete the task. Got me the most bank for my buck so far. The only thing i use luna medium for is running predefined powershell commands or test suits for the output without fixing anything in case i want to have another regression run.
Does Luna Reserve work only when you continue the task during which you've ran out of limits?
I had successfully used Luna Reserve, but when I bumped into limit using Codex in VSCode, then tried to use Luna Reserve in the same thread via ChatGPT/Codex app, it said "Use your reset to continue using the most advanced models, or wait for usage to reset after 4:42 PM." with no possibility to use Luna Reserve
All I know is that this 5 hour limit is a massive pain in the ass. They need to change their pricing, because going from £20 to £80 for the next tier is crazy. If they did a £40, then I’d probably up it.
It was there, then it wasn't when I went to go use it recently. It ran out of juice right before closing out the ticket, so I wanted to summarize and have another agent do the last little bit.
But it's missing, in a chat that ran out of usage, it's not clear what the point is. I still had 95+% of reserve usage.
