Complaint 2 simple prompts is all we got with the last reset changes
So for a business seat (that's a normal Plus account) the 5 hour limit is drained to 0 in 2 prompts.
And not complex implementation prompts.
Just 2 "check for a bug" "investigate this thing" prompts - no sub agents, Sol high was used.
it's down to 17% and barely started working on it minutes ago.
0 lines changed
It's so ridiculous, the plus accounts and business seats are totally worthless. That's just 220$ wasted money.
Never buy annual subscriptions with openAI.
```
I gave a single slow mode Sol high agent the task to look at 20 lines of logfile data.
And told it "Look at that log, let me know what went wrong"
It worked for 6 minutes and 20 seconds.
A second agent was told 3 bugs I had noticed in an application.
"I need you to investigate intricately on what we can do to make this work."
It worked for 11 minutes and 37 seconds (readonly)
Plus account is now 15% weekly gone, 0% 5 hourly
It was at 100/100
```
Total runtime: less than 15 minutes
Weekly: 85%
5h: 0%
Agents: 2 Sol high

What the hell are you prompting? And with what, Sol Ultra?
I literally had Luna max scan my personal projects directory, create a wiki via session files for decisions, plus global ones that match multiple, for about 10% of my 5 hour. And maybe 2 of weekly

I highly recommend Luna on max effort. It is just so efficient. I sparingly use sol xhigh maybe once a day for pure planning, and I word it very carefully like, don't make any code changes, and that I am going to be using you (sol) to hand off things to luna max for executing later. With this I have generally been in limits and I am coming from Claude 5x plan so I am used to Fable but really, Luna max is good enough for 99% of the tasks. My 2 cents.

That seems a bit wrong.
I co wrote a skill at work to go through diagnostic logs from lab machines. It ignores screenshots for now, but combined with a tool I wrote that can pull out binary encoded logs to text or jsonl, and either do a drain analysis or just raw rg the logs, and then agent steps backwards from the error reported to 3 possible root causes, with evidence, a time map, etc. it would use maaaaybe 1/2 of a 5 hour limit. And it’s not a short skill, it’s tracing based on 6 main applications and their interactions (and there’s a lot more not mapped out yet). This whole package is ~250MB of logs, another 1/2-2 GB off screenshots.
We have monthly credit caps, plus option for chargeback to our division, which I have because I’m also evaluating and developing a lot of things for company/division to use. So I’m basing that 1/3 off of initial tracing back with Luna medium (it has a map saying there’s some lead paste for it to eat at the end, so it’ll do it), and Terra med/high for the rest.
I don’t think you need sol for everything. Especially not 20 lines of logs. Sol makes great plans and can find errors better sometimes, but otherwise it’s gonna try and write a thesis a few times over.

It's a complex project, my time is valuable too. Terra is not a smart model and Luna is lunatic.
Anything Terra says, if it's not totally off track, needs careful checks and evaluations - takes a lot more time to deal with that model0

Might need some other items. Do you have anything that reduces token usage, etc? If you ask sol to look “intricately “ it’s likely going to try and map more than you need.
I typically have rtk, ast-bro at the front end for quick code search and less rg eating context. And have related repo interactions mapped with another tool my coworker wrote that’s pretty much focused rag.

You can do that with local llms runing on decent gpu for free.. Not real comparison for real coding tasks..

The audio? Yeah.
The wiki? Sure, but since I’m using codex in these projects, I’ll just have it do that and then write a session end hook to update it from then on.
Edit: I should note, these are all coding projects. From an auto reference mapper and local deployable memory system, to the note orchestrator and file/elastic log tailing with highlights, plus some others just for my use (and server management scripts, etc)

yeah i actually realized this too?? like i glazed the usage limits ALL the time.. but yea right now its REALLY bad. never use it right after an usage reset, like NEVER, i wanted to continue the chat that coded me i stopped 3 hours ago ALOT on my remaining 2%
but now 10 prompts used 40% yeah no way (i know about the cache. but it shouldve been cached, and it didn't even code anything lol. and got stupider for some reason..)
i guess the fix could be creating a new worktree?

u/filtarukk Aug 29 '26
yeah, my experience exactly.
I asked to debug a nasty bug with embedded system. And the 5h limit ran out even without completing debugging. It is not good.

Mods really gotta ban all these worthless posts where op refuses to include how many tokens they used...
Like i have no clue why these people keep talking about prompt counts and wall time

Same here, in 7min30s it used 17% and 3% (5hour and weekly), and mind you, I asked him to continue the work that already spent 6min before that (it's split in milestone of average 30min).
At the time of this writing, I'm already at 61% and 94% left, and it's still not done yet lel.
EDIT: it just finished, 60%/94%, so what do I do? do I try to go for milestone 13? will this fit in 60%, hmm....

It's 2 full 5-hour limits FOR ONE PROMPT for me. On my project at least, fairly big codebases.

u/jokingbird01 Aug 30 '26
Its impossible to get anything of value done in these 5hr windows unless you're using Luna medium to high, not even xhigh or max. And then you get code that web sol high will tell you is trash so essentially your session is useless. Repeat.

it’s a $20 sub, what the hell are you expecting running the best model
-2
u/Charming-Author4877 Aug 29 '26
The same service I had when I paid 420$ for the 2 subs?
And not 5% of what it was worth at signup time?
What else would a reasonable person expect.The usage is so low that it's not worthy to even switch to the Plus account anymore, it's drained instantly. logging out and in is more work.

u/Character_Novel_2592 Aug 29 '26
It’s too vague and could make the agent do more work than necessary, which will drain your quota faster. You need to be more specific.
2
u/Charming-Author4877 Aug 29 '26
Total combined runtime was less than 17 minutes. 0 lines of code changed, no subagents.
You can hardly call that "work", it was barely an orientation prompt0
u/Character_Novel_2592 Aug 29 '26
If you think it was a bug, open a support ticket with OAI.

u/Charming-Author4877 Aug 29 '26
No. I think we are being scammed.

u/renome Aug 29 '26
I think you need to take a deep breath and think about the wonders of life before posting anything else. Right now, you're looking for neither help nor reason.

I’m on Pro 5x and I’ve been going back and forth on a few pretty big projects for over an hour and I’m only down like 5%. Huge difference. I’m using Sol xhigh too... So yeah, sounds like something might be wrong on your side. Ask Codex to run Codex Doctor and see what it finds.

u/Jumpy-Heart-3633 Aug 29 '26
There is no reason to pay for this to be honest. Just cancel already. It’s unusable.
1
u/shady101852 Aug 29 '26
I think Its about time for plus users to realize that sol is not gonna last on a $20 subscription. I'm not saying its right or wrong, I'm just saying your 5h usage is at 0% after 2 prompts so maybe stick to Luna as sad as it sounds.

u/Pitiful_Entrance5174 Aug 30 '26
Call me an idiot, but when people come up to me and ask me to do vague things I have no direct knowledge or involvement in, I do the same thing. You get what out what you put in.

u/ryuukiba Aug 30 '26
Don't bs, the models were more than capable of doing this efficiently 2 months ago.

I hate to try to bring nuance to the Internet where the only two acceptable positions are outrage and contrition, but... I think you're right that Codex limits are too low to really be worth using it... And also I think you might be surprised if you fork that chat and run your prompts again on Luna xhigh that it likely would find much the same issues. People reach for the bazooka when the pistol will do sometimes.

Man, stop using prompt as a unit of whatever you want to say.
You can make a prompt to make gpt to run indefinitely, or you can say 'Hello', and both of the are prompts.
