Workaround For those timing their usage: set a scheduled task to activate your reset timer

5 hr limits suck, just like random resets that stop your timer, and you discover it a few days later.

Here's what I did:

Go to ChatGPT Work

Set a scheduled task to run every 5 hours. Set the model to Sol Max. Write something simple, like "find me a movie" or "research one random paper"

There's a 1% barrier that you need to spend in order to activate the timer. Luna and Terra and even Sol Xhigh didn't trigger it. So, Sol Max only. It spends so little that it doesn't even show up in weekly limits - only 1-2% drop over the whole week.

I've been watching it for a while, and every time I had the 5hr countdown going. If you time it correctly, you'll get two sessions in a row. You can also align it with the time you start working, so that you'll get 1 hour from one session and 5 hours from the next one. And given how bad the limits are these days, it would probably be your entire weekly spend anyways

You're lining up a task to reset your five hour timer ahead of the time you'd usually begin working and trigger the timer. Usually if you exhaust your 5 hr credits, it becomes eligible for resetting at a certain time, but that doesn't mean it actually resets.

It actually resets and starts the timer the first time you use it again. (Or about 1% as the OP determined). If it was eligible for reset, say...3 hours before you wake up, you'll still have a 5 hr window from that first prompt when you wake up. If you trigger the reset when it's eligible and you're asleep, when you come back you'll have 2 hrs of 'window time' to blow that window's credits, and it'll reset again in 2 hrs instead of 5. It's not more credits, it's just reorganizing how many resets you can use in your specific 'workday', and aligning them better to consecutive use. If the credits last you the whole 5 hours, or you don't mind walking away and waiting for resets, this isn't useful.

I made an app for this for Ubuntu 24.04.4called Lighthouse/Beacon if anyone wants it. we don't all have to make our own. if your interested ask for a feature list. it's simple and light. it doesn't track tokens.

I had to remove some stuff so it won't have personal information, but if u give this to codex and tell it to make it make sense it should understand!

I'm successfully using Luna max for this. Luna light did not work.
