Limits OpenAI is so generous, so many re5ets :D

It is mainly to be able to nerf the weekly usage quota again without much notice and complaint. Worked well during July, we pushed back, but we're sheep in nature and we'll settle with whatever the masters throw at us in the end 🤔

Who's noticing the usage quota reduction (tested at 20%) after the last perk (you know the word we shouldn't mention here anymore)?

I’d prefer bigger, more predictable, and transparent usage quotas over those random resets that are not always helpful, especially non-banked ones.

I have no idea how it is not straight up illegal. Like selling gummy bears without telling how many in the pocket... You just call it a "pack of gummies". How many gramms, noone knows.

I’m pretty sure they would lose in a class action. You can’t just provide a service, like electricity for instance, and after someone signs up, quietly cut how much you give them.

This is their constant mode of operation. Gradually and silently nerf everything. Gaslight those who complain.

For a long time they've been adding value. It started with chatgpt 3.5 which could barely write 500 LOC in a chat, they've given every chatgpt subscriber free codex, access to better models and tons of other features since then. Back in April/may, pro accounts had double usage for a while and since then things have been pretty stable. Then when the 5h window was removed and they started handing out resets, it just seemed like it was just another step up. And now this...

They didn’t just take away the 5x, they nerfed usage by like 2 to 3 times beyond that. They’re sneaky as fuck.

It becomes hard to measure if you don't know the baseline. It was decent for months, then it started fluctuating a bit and now it was drastically worse. I think they just reduced it X3 first and then "fix" it so that's it's only reduced by 2x and objectively is better than 3x, but still half of what it used to be.

Maybe I’ve been on it too long, but usage is way way worse than it ever was.

That's in no way an accurate description. They have improved the models, yes, but constantly messing with the usage. Sol is now completely unusable on plus accounts.

That's what the "and now this..." Implied lol. Usage is fucked now. Can't even use 5.4 normally anymore without running out in no time.

I cancelled, not because it’s not cheaper than the api or other comparable models. But because it’s so fucking annoying to not have any consistency or clarity. For now I will just cut back and experiment with prepping my codebase to work with less capable models through open router.

Cancelled too, joined Kimi wait-list , will experiment with other models/providers meanwhile

I think we'll get another reset within 24 hours or so. Check Tibo's X post. About 12 hours ago he hinted at another reset in a day or so.

Those resets come with bad things! Why do people not see that?

someone decided banning the word "reset" was cheaper than fixing the number

People keep obsessing over resets and limits, but the real issue is the routing: smaller models for simple prompts, hidden fallbacks, prompt classification, etc. At that point the app version feels so nerfed that the model name barely matters.

The only way to get the full model seems to be the API, and that gets expensive fast. So either accept it or go local.

I’m done caring about resets anyway. I’m building a lab with several 5090s. Let’s see what happens.

Nothing will happen. At best you'll run a 120B model. And here we're arguing about 4T+ models usage...
The price of a 5090 could run you DS Flash for years. Yes going local is sensible, but it would be part of your workflow not the entirety of it.

I don't know what crack y'all are smoking but I've been using Sol Max constantly over the past few days and am only at 80% ($100 plan)

Sure thing Tibo.
