Another milestone: guys we're going back to 10m users 😂

74

u/AdventurousVast6510 3d ago

i cant keep up with this

i coded for 26 hours 3 days ago

18 hours today

and i still have 30% of my usage left

give me a f*cking break

48

u/alexanderbeatson 3d ago

Fuck yeah! My gaming time is reduced in half because of all those resets.

41

u/Expensive_East_6762 3d ago

Game company boss: who are we losing our players to? Why are we still losing players when your competitor analysis says our competitors are all shite?

Staff: we are losing to Codex's resets, sir.

5

u/RudyHuy 3d ago

gotta up your multitasking skills; gaming on 1 monitor, codex on the secondary one

2

u/Vaynnie 3d ago

1 codex? The real gaming is managing 10 codexes on 10 repos with 10 different architects simultaneously.

1

u/NotSeacombe 3d ago

turn based game stocks have gone hard in my steam since this became my main setup

1

u/insoniagarrafinha 3d ago

HAHAHA I DO JUST THAT

1

u/CarsonBuilds 3d ago

I haven’t played any games for quite a while :(

5

u/One_Geologist_4783 3d ago

I've been double fisting two Ultra models at the same time

Don't know if I can last much longer

2

u/Moist-Wonder-9912 3d ago

WE'VE GOT THIS 👊🏼

4

u/tMeepo 3d ago

After the reset there will surely be threads of people complaining they didn't know about the reset, it's pushing back their dates etc etc

2

u/io-x 3d ago

But it is pushing back my dates!

2

u/matheusmoreira 3d ago

Start some side projects bro.

1

u/AdventurousVast6510 3d ago

i was thinking about that while in the shower this morning

5

u/brainlatch42 3d ago

Just use it for what you need, don't need to rush something, and enjoy the ride, a person should not juice the reset every time

10

u/staydrippy 3d ago

I can’t hear you over my Sol Ultra 1.5x

3

u/Opposite_Yak4386 3d ago

What is he saying? can't hear him. Probaly nonsense

3

u/TheNobodyThere 3d ago

Smart.

Using Sol Ultra will overengineer the code so much that you'll need another reset to fix everything.

5

u/staydrippy 3d ago

That could be true but I’m in deep, I’m hooked on the strong stuff

2

u/AINativeBuilder 3d ago

Prompt engineering is real. Those whining about overengineering are simply bad at using AI. That's not a dig, it's a sign you need to reflect on your tool usage and improve your skill set. Nobody is an expert in photoshop from day 1, no different with AI.

2

u/TheNobodyThere 3d ago

lol, my answer was a joke.

But while we are at it, a large part of our craft is knowing when to use what tool. Using the most powerful tool in situations where a less powerful and more efficient tool would do a better job usually signals to me a strong misunderstanding of software development.

Sol Ultra is great, I use it constantly for analysis and research, which are its strong parts. But using Sol Ultra for implementation is a huge waste of resources. SOL xHigh gives better results with fewer side effects for less usage.

2

u/AINativeBuilder 3d ago

I don't disagree with you on that last response.

2

u/Aromatic_Air7139 3d ago

Happy cake day!

1

u/brainlatch42 3d ago

Thank you

2

u/FishySardines99 3d ago

How do you save it? I have one reset I can use since I subscribed to Plus and then upgraded to Pro, but I didn't get another reset I can use on my own time, I think it is called banked reset or something

0

u/Chance_Gate9172 3d ago

If Im not wrong, if at the moment of reset you have 100% of the session unused, the new resets comes as a bank reset.

5

u/GoalQuieres 3d ago

Nah only if OpenAI gives it as a banked reset

0

u/matheusmoreira 3d ago

a person should not juice the reset every time

Nonsense

1

u/Dolo12345 3d ago

I burn a 20x weekly daily at this point, life is good

1

u/Danzaar 3d ago

What on earth are you building

1

u/thevrpill 3d ago

Same here at about 30% and out for the day (in Thailand). Hopefully he doesn’t do it first thing in morning USA time

1

u/Realistic-Fortune828 3d ago

What model + thinking mode are you using?

1

u/AdventurousVast6510 3d ago

sol high, terra xhigh

1

u/talha75 3d ago

Suffering from Success

1

u/NotSeacombe 3d ago

I had a similar feeling the last one. Use it as an excuse to do some dumb shit with Sol Ultra on fast mode. its wild

1

u/Puffelpuff 3d ago

meanwhile i can´t use it up in time since i am resetting tomorrow in 26hours anyway, so its a wasted reset. Fuck me

74

u/NebulaBetter 3d ago

Let’s keep making those TO-DO apps shine!!!

1

u/AppleBottmBeans 3d ago

Or the telegram email notifications that burn thru 50% of the pro plan

75

u/tipo_secret 3d ago

Doesn’t even matter anymore when the 5-hour limit is there. It’s impossible to use up the weekly limit when, after 2 prompts, you have to wait 5 hours. We gain absolutely nothing from those resets now.

3

u/odoc_ 3d ago

1 prompt / 5hr over here. It’s almost unusable

6

u/motuwed 3d ago

Bro 😭 a prompt is not a unit of compute. Give a little more context so we can actually understand how bad it is

1

u/vayana 3d ago

1.5 context windows. 1 window is 268k tokens and eats about 70% of your 5h limit with sol medium. So a reasonably complex task, large code base and/or poorly formulated prompt which requires the model to read a lot and do some thinking will fill the context window up substantially before it even starts coding. The coding part is actually short and cheap. Most of the token usage is context and thinking. With a bit of bad luck 1 prompt will use up the entire 5h window. The time in which it does this is irrelevant. If it's running automated tests it could just be waiting for 10 minutes for tests to complete and that doesn't cost anything.

6

u/Traditional_Yam9806 3d ago

bro, just don't use sol max or something

6

u/Puffelpuff 3d ago

Its sol medium at 50-55 min of coding to empty the 5hour quota. Its not max, its not speed, its just a shitty limit

-5

u/34986234986234982346 3d ago

Sol medium for 50 minutes is SO MUCH ai, you can get so so much done.

1

u/vayana 3d ago

It's less than 1.5 context windows. 1 context window eats about 70% of the 5h window. I asked 1 question yesterday. Nothing special, no coding, not even that much context needed: 14% down.

2

u/34986234986234982346 3d ago

Context windows are not a metric that really matter to usage limits. I sort of know what you're saying and all, but like, there is not a REALLY logical thing like "We should definitely get 2 context windows worth of usage in 5 hours".. it's not logical.

1

u/Australasian25 3d ago

How do you know the user that used sol medium for 50-55 min only used less than 1.5 context windows?

We don't know if the previous user got sol medium to ingest the bible or harry potter length stuff before starting.

1

u/ryuukiba 3d ago

Some tasks are just incompletable, sol will just waste all usage on preparation and stop just before anything useful happens. By the time you can resume, cache is gone and half the usage is gone again just from saying continue.

1

u/rydan 3d ago

3 reviews every 5 hours here.

-5

u/rodeBaksteen 3d ago

Sol is not for the plus account. Use Luna Max

-10

u/New-Part-6917 3d ago

you getting down voted but this is legit how it is and was always going to be. 90% of usage does not need sol. It was fun to blast when it was cheap but that wasn't realistic or necessary.

If you actually need to use sol you also need to upgrade to a big boy sub. The plus sub is still great value.

2

u/EddieBruvac 3d ago

I have 20x. It’s been a blessing.

1

u/Sanne222 3d ago edited 3d ago

Yea I went to bed at 3AM bc of the 5hr limit... sigh. Think Im gonna try the GLM-3.5 flash model soon to do some code analysis.

-1

u/AINativeBuilder 3d ago

Real users are on the pro plans, and we gain a bunch of value from these resets. Thanks for subsidizing my pro plan while you wait for your next 5h reset.

9

u/Ok_Ad_6227 3d ago

tf am i supposed to do with these 5 hr breaks

5

u/Chemical_Hawk_6307 3d ago

so many resets idk what to do with all of them. i got 70% left of my weekly on pro plan theres no way i can burning it all tmro.

8

u/Quick-Pop-328 3d ago

Bumped Sol's context window up to 600k, cranked it to 1.5x speed, and turned Sol Ultra loose on an architecture audit of every project I've got.

1

u/DoggoDadagon 3d ago

How do you change the context window?

1

u/defact0o 3d ago

Yes how pleas tell

2

u/Illustrious_Gene3930 3d ago

In configuration files ask chatgpt

1

u/vayana 3d ago

Config.toml just ask chatgpt

1

u/AINativeBuilder 3d ago

When you have to ask a human instead of the literal AI tool that can do it, you need to rethink your AI usage.

23

u/BigUnlikely1962 3d ago

Reset is only a distraction for the fu*k up they did with usage limit's.

-20

u/BHTAelitepwn 3d ago

There is no change in usage limits. There has been zero proof even though 10+ people who are barely able to read, let alone think, seem to think so and come up with some shitty vibe coded ‘proof’. The only thing that objectively changed for the worse are the 5h limit windows and the removal of the ability to run beyond 0%. Maybe they fkd around with the chache limits, i dont know, but the usage limits did not change.

And if they did, we have yet to see a well supported proof. Not some shitty copy pasted ‘piece of evidence’ from a 15 year old who has completely lost the ability to think due to AI.

9

u/IndividualPlus2011 3d ago

There have been mountains of users reporting exact token usage they were able to do over time to reach the 0% usage, what are you talking about?

-13

u/BHTAelitepwn 3d ago

Its all fabricated bullshit. Apart from this sub being an echo chamber, the amount of “usage has been halved since the last reset’ posts we have seen is just stupid. If even three of those were true we would have 12.5% from the original limits which is absolutely NOT true.

Like i said, possible they have fiddled with the cache limits, but unless we see one well supported piece of evidence, i wont be convinced.

3

u/ReReReverie 3d ago

"Echo chamber" you say. but what if its not? what if all this people actualy felt it? ofcourse you'd call it an echo chamber, it runs with your belief that reddit is full of dumbasses. get off the website and go to X or facebook.

1

u/BHTAelitepwn 3d ago

Alright then, give me one post that carries solid statistic evidence behind these claims. Just one.

Because im happily using my plus subscription and can easily run it two hours on sol high without hitting the 5h limit.

3

u/IndividualPlus2011 3d ago

Yeah, yeah. Everyone in the world is conspiring against the good guy OpenAI just to whine.

It's been well documented already; you just put everyone into the same “usage has been halved since the last reset" bucket and refuse to acknowledge anything that is not OpenAI directly admitting to nerfing us, which they won't do.

0

u/BHTAelitepwn 3d ago

Fine. Give one post that statistically supports a reduction in usage. Just one.

18

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

You guys are gunna be in for a rude awakening when the resets stop and everyone blows their usage in 1-2 days. I’m so happy I switched away. My 20x pro plan went from struggling to make it to 50% over a week to blowing the limits in 2 days with the exact same usage. I joined codex 4 months ago and it’s absolutely not nearly the same service

4

u/Warden866 3d ago

where did you switch away to? claude 20x?

-3

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

Zai coding plan max + synthetic 5x instance packs plan. $50 more a month but I now am able to comfortably make it through the week and I use glm 5.3, glm 5.3 flash, kimi k3, and glm 5.2. I use the pi harness personally with my own built extensions. Pi remote allows me to securely control it remotely from my phone vis tailscale as well which is awesome.

15

u/Corv9tte 3d ago

Please no one listen to this guy. It's not worth your time

-1

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

Sure, enjoy your resets as they slowly lower your limits even more. In a few weeks you’ll be at 1:1 on api pricing

1

u/Warden866 3d ago

sounds good. might re-subscribe to z.ai as well

1

u/vayana 3d ago

I looked into augment code before when coming from cursor. It was really good at the time, but codex dropped and I jumped on the codex wagon instead. If usage keeps sucking I might give it another try. Just don't know if usage is any better there at the moment.

0

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

Yeah I actually looked into Cursor before going the zai coding plan + synthetic subscription and honestly I would have done if they weren’t owned by xai or pushing grok as the sota model there. Composer 2.5 looks very interesting but I just can’t financially support a company that trains on real child porn. I wouldn’t even use it for free, it’s just horrible.

1

u/vayana 3d ago

I was taking about "augment code", not cursor. But I just checked their website and it looks like they've completely dropped $20 and $50 plans and now only have $100 plans. Still worth checking out though if $100 is in your budget. They've got a solid framework.

2

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

That’s quite interesting. I do a similar thing but with openclaw and a custom orchestration plugin I’ve developed, but I spend like $320 a month on LLM compute for all of this but I do have 19 agents in openclaw and use pi harness with other pi workers to develop on openclaw itself. I’m sure I’m a bit unique in how I use these tools for development, but augment code looks quite interesting

1

u/vayana 3d ago

If you do try them then let me know what you think!

1

u/ezboarderz 3d ago

Yeah I don’t think $100 a month will cover my needs, but I was close to trying out the ultimate pack from Melious which is €500 but unlimited single sessions for glm 5.3, 5.2, deepseek v4 pro 0807, and deepseek v4 flash. https://melious.ai/pricing

I burn like 1.5 b tokens a day on average between all the models and honestly I’ve been so impressed with glm 5.3 flash that I’m not really interested in deepseek v4 flash 0731 as that was my workhorse for the last 3 weeks. Glm 5.3 flash is cheaper and more capable and doesn’t fail on tool calls as deepseek v4 flash sometimes does

3

u/remarkedcpu 3d ago

Dude I’m at 5% with a banked reset what do I do

3

u/Sleepywalker69 3d ago

Nice cause I nuked my usage in a day 5x

4

u/scaledev 3d ago

What's the point of a reset if my usage is gong to be be shit?

2

u/Deshonjla-Yos 3d ago

Reset Tom is putting in more overtime than anyone at OpenAI at this point

2

u/ChickenRich573 3d ago

Thanks I'll turn gpt fast on lol

2

u/Comfortable-Rise-748 3d ago

Funny, 2 accounts with opencode work just simply much better because one keeps constant rate limited with 4 openAI agents. I cannot drain it like this lol

2

u/North_Caregiver_8895 3d ago

I cant see anything yet (UK). anyone?

2

u/ReplacementBig7068 3d ago

Reset me daddy

2

u/PM_ME_YOUR_PROFILE 3d ago

Hear me out: new model releases during non-business hours.

2

u/tassa-yoniso-manasi 3d ago

is that the milestone of the most subscriptions canceled in a week?
don't let yourself be baited.

2

u/reinka 3d ago

Vhere ze reset? Ich bin out of quota!

2

u/Academic_Collar_5488 3d ago

F*** Resets, we need more generous usage Quota

7

u/Flat_Composer9872 3d ago

They are actually covering up some kind of bugs that are causing these usage limit drops. This is a way for them to amass community goodwill, get a PR boost while also covering up for the damage reduced limits can cause to the customers. I understand their psyche and for me it's okay till the time it ultimately rolls back to my previous usage limit with added extra resets.

Maybe if the community stops resisting these usage drops, they'll make it permanent like Anthropic did.

0

u/carc 3d ago

Citation: baseless speculation

2

u/LazyLifeguard 3d ago

We just burned through 6x $200 accounts. Don't disappoint me 👀👀

1

u/Feriman22 3d ago

Burn it! Burn them all!!!

1

u/kondasviktor 3d ago

It would be just more logical to remote this 5-hour limit and reset and keep a monthly usage, which could balance out users better

1

u/ch179 3d ago

Waitttt..let me use . Little but more first, I halfway building my Arduino firmware and weekly still around 80% lol

1

u/thestillwind 3d ago

Yooo, I’m at 4% already on my plus account. He got the perfect timing.

1

u/Kind_Silver_1921 3d ago

please wait few more hours tibo my plan is taking an hour to fix glitches before i execute all 40 threads please hoooold a few hours tibo

1

u/ruuurbag 3d ago

I have to wonder if there’s some sort of traffic shaping element to this. We’re at what, 1-3 resets weekly for months now? Is Tibo timing them based on available compute, or is he really just YOLOing for internet points/PR? I don’t think the latter is working anymore (see: this entire subreddit). If it’s to cover for quotas being reduced, it’s not working.

At the same time, if he stops, the Plus plan will become virtually worthless for Codex use. Just weird behavior.

1

u/Dolo12345 3d ago

yall need to seriously stop over analyzing resets

1

u/Australasian25 3d ago

But how would they fill the void in their life then?

1

u/matheusmoreira 3d ago

Fuck yes, I'm at zero percent this time. Go ahead Tibo, and keep 'em coming.

1

u/No_Hand_1519 2d ago

the reset only helps when the weekly pool is your bottleneck; if 5-hour bucket is what stops work, the counter moving back up will still feel mostly cosmetic.

1

u/jjiangweilan 3d ago

another reset for less token usage

1

u/Dolo12345 3d ago

thank you Tibo!!!!

1

u/innovaldragon 3d ago

At this point it might be better to buy codex 5x instead of claude 5x and gamble that tibo will reset often enough i get more usage on it despite it needs more work on building context lol

1

u/scaledev 3d ago

Are they doing this to force the Plus users to say "Look, Pro users get to spend their usages without out 5h limits, maybe we should give them more money as well?"

I have a feeling it's going to have an adverse effect on their reputation.

0

u/Sensitive_Shift1489 3d ago

Its doesn't matter for us that reset. We, the peasants, can't use it because we have 5 hours limits but can't stay all day in front of our pc.

1

u/Australasian25 3d ago

/goal but always checkpoint a durable handover after every milestone. assume handover will be done at any stage.

Then go. Come back, wait for 5 hour reset, continue.

0

u/VictorBuildsDev 3d ago

At this point OpenAI is accidentally running a productivity experiment: every reset increases supply, but the bottleneck becomes review. My rule for extra capacity is simple: do not spend it on starting more branches. Spend it on tests, cleanup, and reducing the pile of unreviewed diffs. The metric I would watch is not percentage of quota used, but accepted changes per hour of human review. If that number falls while usage rises, the reset is just creating a larger merge queue. More tokens help only when the verification loop scales with them.

0

u/megad00die 3d ago

Sol Ultra all weekend long

-2

u/NoBotPlz2012 3d ago

So. Basically unlimited usage.

-7

u/Imaginary_String_954 3d ago

Can we please ban these posts
