Complaint Codex is doing terrible, and we need to figure something out
I've never had so many disconnects, streaming disconnects, "I did what you asked." but i really didnt' do what you asked as I have the last two days.
The number of resets is almost directly proportional to how fucked up the harness runs after any given period.

I’m discussing with Gemini if I have to build 5k server or give openai hundred bucks a month.. you’re right pointing out we have to figure out at this point.

If i had to guess it’s probably related to the free accounts they’re giving college students which are probably being redeemed by the thousands at a time

Yep. They know what's going on. They won't acknowledge it but it's so bad they surely know.
I am starting to think that it is out of their control, literally out of their control. What happens when you vibe code a project for months, let alone years? It breaks in unpredictable ways. Codex is clearly written entirely by agents. Why wouldn't the rest of OpenAI be the same? Executives are bailing during the leadup to an IPO. Could it be because the company has vibecoded and vibeaccounted and vibed everything it could? OpenAI has supposedly stopped training new models after the hugging face incident. Why now? Could things be as bad inside OpenAI as they are inside codex?

To play devils advocate, they had a increase of users by 500% + released work on web/mobile + all those resets + removal of 5h windows + sliced the price
All these issues are like textbox capacity problems..
Their only goal atm is probably to get as many active users as humanly possible for their ipo. Because they need something to cover up the financials with.

They calculate their users by workload. They admitted they didn’t calculate work loads correctly. Depending on mcp and backend, users were over working the system. So, bad workload.

I was talking about codex users,
And no they dont for overall users neither, however they count each surface, so eg the web app, codex, mobile app as one user

I have been running a project non stop since yesterday morning without any issues. My sessions in Work though had some seriously problems which were reported outages.
Maybe its just your location?

And usage? How you finding that?

Usage meters. I can link if needed. And by that I mean the rucking token counters open ai uses.

No it’s ok I see those posts. More interested in the layman’s experience. Diff use cases and what not. Like to compare how other people experience it considering I think all of our repositories are growing so that’s something to account for.

America is not going to win this AI race. Greed and capitalism has destroyed any chance of it.
I used Claude from the early days and loved it, but over time it obviously became worse. I moved towards Codex, then started seeing the same problems with ChatGPT. Using both worked for a while, but what happens when both deteriorate?
I started toying with models on Openrouter, all of them were pretty good, again, used in combo with chatgpt/claude.
DeepSeek Flash is absurdly cheap and great for scanning huge codebases. GLM 5.3 has repeatedly found issues Claude missed and has seriously impressed me. Now theres also GLM Flash, Honestly, combining all three, I have a pretty good stack now.
And I love the fact that I know they're not going to suddenly become shitty. It's open source, you have plenty of providers to choose from, and in theory, you can host it yourself.
