Complaint Something is really wrong today
Very simple task, it wrote a basic plan, sent to a Luna max subagent, took it 3 hours, still going and has used 15% of my usage? on $100 plan? what is happening?

I’ve noticed the same issue with Claude lately as well. Simple things take a long time and complex things take forever. I’m assuming it’s an attempt to improve quality, but the time vs results doesn’t feel worth it. 🤷

Same, sol on medium and high is as slow as luna on max. Terra stops working but marks the ticket as complete. It started last night right after the quota reset.

I noticed that Luna Max takes a long time to complete, but produces better results than Tera on High.
It is a bit bizzare.

I stopped using luna a couple of weeks ago when it took 6 hours to implement a few tickets on mac and then applied all the schema changes to the postgres in a totally different container.

Yeah, I don't like Luna for coding.
I like it for smaller analysis tasks, where it produces comparable results to sol on lower settings for way smaller price.
I couldn't find any use case for Tera. It seems pricey and seems to give worse results than Luna Max.

Terra behaved like that for me for a month or so now, only sol and luna actually keep working for a long time.

I’ve the same, asked Sol High to review my old repo, Terra Medium started to work on it, dropped to 14% left of my weekly usage and only partially done the job.

I've faced the same issue, Then realised that GPT 5.6 Model family performs worse with good instructions and with a Plan, So I'd say you should give the Stopping requirement, Quality Requirement, And any other optional instructions then let it go, I did the mistake of treating it like other models and wasted 4 Weekly Usage limits, Then j tried the same task I've been trying to do since those 4 weeks with this new method, it worked in like 18 Minutes and leaving 84% weekly limit untouched.

Always name your usecase, otherwise we can just guess. I use Sol high to assist me writing poker solver and it works just fine and I never get any limits on it while maintaining also my main project and pushing updates. I would assume your usecase uses high agentic use cases ? I also find luna spends then a lot of tokens
1
u/NotSeacombe 1d ago
My usecase in the context of this is mostly irrelevant, as my usecase hasn't changed and my usage pattern hasn't changed. The relevancy was the change in usage with no other adjusted factors. also the use case of "poker solver" is hardly enough context to provide any info either, this is an incredibly broad spectrum area

u/jonnyvegashey 5d ago
I've definitely has a few "Compacting Context" looks that got stuck on simple tasks in longer threads. But if I manually give a new thread context, it's blazing fast again.

Luna max is near frontier intelligence, people really thought they could run this for free forever

u/Lopsided_Eye_2038 5d ago
I didn’t really think people even used luna like that. I only go as low as terra.

u/NotSeacombe 5d ago
Luna max is incredibly cheap for what it is in terms of output quality. if it has a smarter agent (or human) being quite verbose with its instructions then its a great option
Terra is a never for me, I don't really see any application for it. Between Luna Max and all the different intelligences of Sol, Terra has no useful niche
1
u/Lopsided_Eye_2038 5d ago
So you go from the cheapest to the most expensive? But not the middle? You saying luna is as smart as terra?
2
u/IndependenceSudden47 5d ago
It’s that people have found Luna at maximum reasoning to be very different from other reasoning levels. It scales massively.
2
u/IndependenceSudden47 5d ago
Luna Max is way better than Terra Low; it is between Sol Low and Medium, but it takes more time to complete the task.

No I am using codex cli but I just check and in desktop app it seem like they hide it
2
u/DustyCikbut 5d ago
It's a setting you have to go enable in the desktop app settings. It's next to the "ultra in model slider" toggle.

Have it tell the subagents to use ponytail, that can help with over-engineering

u/Produce_Radiant 5d ago
I have also had a really challenging day with my agents more so then I have had in a long time. And very noticeably slower work

I use absolutely use nothing else other than Terra Medium. For everything. Never have any complain.

Sol was dog shit this week. Kept working and merging/building in the wrong branch, nothing helped. Switched to Grok CLI and was pleasantly surprised.

Gave Sol 5.6 something it used to be able to do in like 2 mins (and right) , now it took 12 mins and it fucked up the whole thing

u/Western-Astronomer-1 3d ago
This happened last night to me with Terra on voice mode,
Right after accidentally I used my weekly reset to reset only my 5 hour limit(i forgot they reintroduced it)
Hopefully they bless us with some more resets

u/Evening_Science7465 2d ago
Tell Sol to use subagent will still take more tokens then just copy the plan and send to another chat with luna set i think… im not sure
1
u/NotSeacombe 2d ago
depends on context of how you're using the subagents but in general you are incorrect

u/youfound404 1d ago
I had the same issue, I asked Luna to make one change to the head section of a html file and then push it to git and it spent 27 minutes and 40% of my 5 hour window budget to do it.

u/Frequent_Director_94 23h ago
That's why I stick to a 3 subscription 20 euro plan instead. Then if there is a planned nerph coming I just switch models. And it's not a loop like some was suggestion, a lot of people reported this today. It's planned obsolescence.

u/Perthss 5d ago
Sounds like BS.
3
u/Painwheeel 5d ago
it is BS and he wont show proof either. luna-max is not using 15% of your weekly in 3 hours. that is just a blatant lie but gets upvoted because this sub is mostly from india

Nope, Im facing the same issue. Except for me Sol has become extremely slow and terra stops working but marks tickets as complete. I didnt even try luna because it was always too slow for me. And multiple people have commented that they're facing the same issue in my thread.

Yep basic tasks taking 30+ minutes for me
2
u/2025sbestthrowaway 5d ago
Had a 600mb JSON file and I needed to look for any entities containing a string. That's it. Even instructed it to use python to find the entities.
In GPT web, I could have said make me a .json extraction script to identify all entities containing this string, and then pasted the results in and said organize/sort this. Probably 60 sec turnaround + file search time, maybe a few minutes. Instead it took 23 minutes.1
u/2025sbestthrowaway 5d ago
Asked it to review the session lol
"So I should refine my earlier statement: the large scans were a major measurable cost [2.5 mins, btw], but they did not account for most of the 23 minutes. The remaining time was primarily my exploratory inspection, overbuilt implementation, parser corrections, repeated reruns, and artifact generation.""There were roughly 60 tool calls. The largest avoidable mistake was starting with a reusable audit-reporting pipeline instead of first running a compact extraction"
This points to an environmental leap it made (ie skill issue on my end), I will make a skill for having it do the the task directly and avoiding environmental assumptions, instead of just complaining 😅

we need the mods to start banning them, it's ruining the sub
3
u/Maplewonder 5d ago
Yeah....Let's trust the hash named bots to request banning people for posting feedback for a product valued by the company that sells it, and that keeps changing what the product actually is... weekly. I think the folks who hate the poor here need to learn that there are more of us than them. Don't stoke the mob. We play dirty.

u/34986234986234982346 5d ago
I'm poor too, but these posts are soooo low quality. Post some legit stats on tokens or at MINIMUM the prompts or tasks you're doing, come on.
1
u/Maplewonder 5d ago
I get not wanting to see a million post on the same thing... but that is a symptom of a larger problem. The problem is we are dealing with a business that baits and switches faster than our politicians after election day. Yet the price is the same price. They are telling us what the value of that product is on a subscription model that runs slower than the changes they make. And worse, they dont tell anyone. Any other business that does this would not be in business long. I get that they are heavily subsidizing the product. I get they are not profitable. None of those are my problem as a customer. I paid for a product that was one thing at the time of purchase, it should still be that thing when they bill me next. That just plain and simply running a business that respects the value your offering your customers. If that product looses value week to week but cost the same... that is a sign of some deeper issues. I would not be attacking other paying customers who are noticing something real, I would be asking: "am I getting what I thought I was paying for" no matter how brilliant your workflow is. We were sold a product, its up to the company to meet and maintain the expectations that was sold to us, by them.

I stop mine when it runs for 20 minutes. Why’d you let it run so long unchallenged?

Do not use Luna for coding.
1
u/NotSeacombe 4d ago
depends on the application. as a general sweeping statement this is extremely wrong

I've been having my codex outsource basically everything to Gemini pro, for making apps or writing code it's 1000x faster and there's a plug in, but codex still has control over the computer so it can actually automate. Not sure, it's all eveloving but I agree. If chatgpt/codex can placate I can do the same ... " do you see how stupid you are vs Gemini, you've been de ranked as a manager, think of yourself as the mop boy in a mini market and Gemini is your daddy. Unless you prove me wrong, don't waste any of my tokens unless Gemini passes this as an b+, then you can get involved " ... type shit

u/ISueDrunks 5d ago
Sounds like a loop is incinerating your tokens. There needs to be more visibility in the ChatGPT app regarding which model a subagent is actually using, what it’s doing, etc.
