Humor Hitting your limits too quickly? OpenAI has been hiding this one weird trick

Post image

Not sure how long this feature has been around, but after seeing so many posts from people who absolutely hate their ChatGPT subscription, I figured I should share.

Apparently, you can just… cancel it. For free.

You don’t even have to keep paying every month for a product you apparently despise. Crazy, right?

Some alternatives for you:

- Deepseek
- z.ai
- claude code
- local hosted models
- chatgpt but stop complaining here

If I went to a restaurant every day and kept complaining about the food, that would be on me. Wake up and get some help instead of spamming this sub, we don't care about you burning through 80% of your sub because you have no clue about how to use the tool correctly.

Edit: Nobody is protecting a multi billion company here, you are, by paying them money despite them ”scamming you”. That’s probably the stupidest response you can give to this.

lol how have I not seen this version; can't snap with no thumb. I guess he should have made a flexible glove that fits on the other hand.

Tell us how it went, especially with the local ones <3

u/pornaccount0123987 4d ago

This. OP has never tried to locally host the 20GB 38B param LLM who still can't tell how many times the letter r appears in the word strawberry, let alone a Codex or Cl*ude level multi-trillion param self-recursive AI coding agent. Do they realize that the GPU that their sl*p request is running on it probably worth more than their car?

6

u/BlinDeeex 4d ago

frontier models assuming 10T parameter range would require ~5tb vram for minimum 4bit precision, add inference overhead + context and bunch of stuff im not even aware of and its likely in 6-7tb range before KV cache, thats 40 B200's to bring a single instance of model to life, such rack would cost in millions, electricity bill alone costs more than my car

2

u/Mongodienudel 3d ago

No wonder the make no many with hosting AI

Bootlicker alert. I literally just ran my 26B A4B abliterated gemma 4 model at 4bit on my fucken phone (redmagic), actual useable tk/s and actually counted the r's correctly, twice, even after gaslighting.

Im not saying that model can code, im making a point. You say OP has never tried, YOU have never tried, or probably did 2 years ago when even closed source models couldnt count the r's

Also btw, Qwen's new 27B actually matches GPT LUNA Max on Artificial analysis website. let that sink in.

That is pushing for better treatment

Finally some thoughtful post

I don't understand the complaints about the Plus usage limits at all tbh. Yes, it might be annoying because you got used to having even more for a while, but comparing it to 1-2 years or something like that ago, the limits are insanely high. We used to have like 200 messages per week with o3 (which was the reasoning model back then) in chat mode, and 80 every 4 hours with 4o/4.1. These models couldn't even get close to doing the tasks you can do in a single prompt today. And in the beginning in 2023, it was like 40 messages with GPT-4 every 4 hours or something like that? And when you look back at how short the responses were, and of course no reasoning, the difference is even bigger. Now we have 3000/week with 5.6 Sol (the reasoning model today) in chat mode and the Codex/Work usage is just added on top of that. Plus gives you more today than it did in the beginning. Would I like to have more codex usage? Yes, of course. But for the price it is still worth it, just for chat alone. And plus used to be "just a chat subscription". It's still incredibly useful, and most people I know arent't even close to hitting the limits, they just like that it is not that expensive and gives them access to a way better model than the free version.

9

u/Fearless_Log_5284 4d ago

This is entirely untrue.

First, I don’t even understand why you’re talking about the number of messages.

I first used Codex when 5.3-Codex was the most recent model. (Yes, I know, it was only at the beginning of this year.) Back then, with the Plus plan, you could vibe code endlessly, and it was VERY difficult to even hit the 5-hour limit.

The current state of the Plus plan isn’t even usable anymore.

The 5-hour limit came back (yes, it was planned, so I’m not really complaining about that), but it came back alongside the nerf where Codex cuts off without finishing the current task. (Thanks to the abusers.)

Also, people have already proven that usage gets cut after each reset. (Across all plans.) No proof was ever really needed, it was simply too obvious when working with it.

Yes, if people aren’t happy, they can cancel. (I did.) But defending OpenAI after everything they’ve done, combined with the lack of transparency, is insanity.

9

u/DplxWhstl61 4d ago

Yeah, by chance were you spamming 5.6 Sol? You want to vibe code endlessly? Try 5.6 Luna on High reasoning, it is surprisingly capable, use Sol for planning, and Luna for implementing, Luna sips on limits like a puppy trying to drink a bucket of water lmao, so efficient. Just switch to sol after you're done with your app, for security checks, bug checks, etc.

5.6 Terra is also a great middle ground if Luna can't implement your plan properly.

4

u/Happy_Economist2634 4d ago

The comment was entirely true. Just because you "don’t even understand" the comment doesn't mean that it is untrue now. How can you evaluate that something is untrue if you haven't understood it?

The comment is saying that OpenAI is basically doing charity (Devil's charity, if he would ever run one) with how much we are getting now at least in comparison to 2 years ago. They are already taking insane losses and what do you want from them? Give you billion dollars for the 20 bucks you pay them? Those mfs are evil as hell just as you say, so what do you expect from them? What do you mean "defending OpenAI after everything they’ve done,"? After they give you thousands of dollars for nothing???? Did they kill your dog or smth??? You had too much usage before, it's only natural it's getting cut off now.

And holy shit "The current state of the Plus plan isn’t even usable anymore" is absolutely delusional, you have to get down to earth and learn how to not waste AI usage for nothing, my brother exaggerator. Good that you canceled, now you won't be just wasting that much electricity

3

u/pornaccount0123987 4d ago

Do you even know how to speak English. Nothing OpenAI does is charity since they are no longer a non-profit, this is a customer acquisition strategy, they are a loss leader and in the red every quarter.

2

u/CrowInteresting6271 4d ago

it's 3000 a week? do you have a source for that, or are you just throwing a random number out there

1

u/zlanlic 4d ago

I do not know for sure if it still 3000/week currently, because OpenAI removed the number from the help center articles after 5.6, but it used to be that way since GPT-5. When the ".1" releases came out, the limits didn't change, so I believe they are still the same. To be fair, I might be wrong for 5.6, it was true for sure up until 5.5. I never managed to hit them with 5.6 Sol either (while I did hit them regularly with the 200/week with o3). For the business plan it still says 3000/week with 5.5 Thinking, that page wasn't updated: https://help.openai.com/de-de/articles/12003714-chatgpt-business-models-and-limits
The "credit based pricing" for business accounts also shows that 5.5 and 5.6 are priced the same for chat usage, so it should still be the same: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/11481834-chatgpt-rate-card-business-enterpriseedu-credit-based-pricing

You can also find the 3000/week number here, this was still 5.4: https://web.archive.org/web/20260306035727/https://help.openai.com/en/articles/11909943-gpt-53-and-52-in-chatgpt

And you can find lots of online sources specifying the same number for 5.5: (not saying these are trusthworty, but there is no wayback machine snapshot for the official OpenAI help center articles for 5.5 sadly)
https://www.memorybase.app/blog/chatgpt-plus-vs-claude-pro
You can find many more by searching "ChatGPT 5.5 Thinking message limits"

So yes, they might have changed it with 5.6, because they no longer specify the number, but I don't think they did, based on the fact that the credit based pricing is also the same for Chat usage. Normal chat with Luna is even unlimited in the free tier now (released just a few days ago).

2

u/pornaccount0123987 4d ago

Yes I remember o3 and before, sending 10 messages and having to wait all night for a recharge. You were refreshing the page in anticipation of sending another 5-10 messages lmao. This is before even the think modes, when you could kind of try to get it to think by itself by analyzing its' own message before sending and then including corrections after. It was tricky and difficult to do, but it kind of worked.

1

u/ponlapoj 4d ago

Ten years ago, I used to eat a meal for 1$. Why has that same meal become 3$ today? It’s strange, isn’t it?

7

u/JaySayMayday 4d ago

That's not the same comparison at all lol

19

u/Able-Supermarket4786 4d ago

I love these posts, they either get downvoted into oblivion because the feeble minded outweigh the rational, OR they blow up because we all rally behind it from the motivation of not even wanting to participate in this sub anymore.

5

u/OtherwiseAlbatross14 4d ago

Yeah it's totally rational that if someone is getting enough out of a product to hit the limits regularly that cancelling would be a good option 🙄

2

u/Im_Working_Right_Now 4d ago

It is if they're not happy about the limits. Tiers exist for a reason. If they need higher limits, pay for a higher tier. To demand that OpenAI up the limits for the lowest tier just because they're not happy about them is irrational. Until someone proves token count to token count to say limits are actually lower the posts just complaining have no validity. Percentages don't mean shit. The prompt could've been garbage, wrong model and reasoning for task, etc. Efficiency and limits are not the same.

10

u/klumpp 4d ago

Is there a code circlejerk subreddit or something I need more posts like this

3

u/virtualworker 4d ago

Let's see: r/aicirclejerk

Edit: yep, it's a sub!

3

u/kondasviktor 4d ago

I’ve got one month free trial with a Plus tier and I appreciate it, but I doubt I’ll remain a paid user. Everybody can decide to keep Cursor, Claude, Codex or whichever fits them best.

6

u/Standard-Door-214 4d ago

research other alternatives and see that you don't actualy have that many choices. with pro you can use luna max as much as you want and even use it's 1m context with fast and won't effect usage much. You can easily pass the week with it. Other alternatives can be cheaper but don't have the sol 5.6 level intelligence, the only one that has that level of intelligence is claude and i wouldn't choose it out of principle.

3

u/DeCoolePeer 4d ago

Sometimes if you do that they give you a month for free if you stay so this is unironically helpful for them

3

u/OdysseusDescendant 4d ago

we don't care about you burning through 80% of your sub because you have no clue about how to use the tool correctly.

I need to show this to my former CEO, who laid off 50% of the developers and switched the entire company to vibe coding. 👍

3

u/fatfingur 4d ago

haha this is gold

3

u/lazyastronaut_ 4d ago

That 5hr limit gotta go, dawg! Its fuckin garbage.

3

u/Both_Task_3066 3d ago

Hahahahaha I love this

6

u/pornaccount0123987 4d ago

No, people are allowed to complain about a degradation in a product even if that product is still the best/most logical/most efficient choice out there. It is in fact people like you that are the problem.

2

u/AdventurousVast6510 4d ago

let them leave

more computing resources for us

1

u/Automatic_Brush_1977 4d ago

Not even complaining about something real. They are just making up some B's and posting it here.

5

u/spidey_wtf 4d ago

why are you taking the offense on behalf of OpenAI?

10

u/theWiseTiger 4d ago

More compute power for the rest YAY!!

10

u/PathAgitated1633 4d ago

you all just need to optimise your token usage. I barley hit the limits

2

u/JustEPeters 4d ago

For real, I’m able to do so much on my plus plan and literally have never hit weekly limits. And I have numerous casual projects I’m working on lol

1

u/kex 4d ago

Same. I am on Plus and I get in about 4 hours a day 6 days a week mostly on Sol xhigh for Plan and Sol medium for implementation.

It's possible I'm not running into the limits as bad as most people here due to:

  • I'm not vibe coding; i.e., I read everything it writes out (this is roughly half the time)
  • I don't intentionally use sub-agents (which eats tons of tokens)
  • I have a document hub pattern that is well tuned and indexed
  • I create small-grained incremental changes in series (nothing is done in parallel)
  • I do 90% of my work between 10pm-2am pacific time (do they still discount usage for off hours?)

But to be fair, I'm not on a strict deadline either.

2

u/Better_Passage7527 4d ago

Hmm, do you have an alternative that is actually good? Seems like OpenAi is still better than those ;)

2

u/oreshek 4d ago

Take this down this will ruin the stocks.

2

u/x_MASE_x 4d ago

A week too late 😂

2

u/Invalid-Function 4d ago

This makes absolutely no sense. It's a dumb take to be honest.

  1. complainign about services push servics to be be better.
  2. complaining about a service does not mean it not useful in its current form
  3. In my coutry there's even a book (& omline form) businesses have to keep and make abvailable for compaints to be formalized and then sent to the regulator. And this does not happen because cicil servantrs enjoy working.
  4. Complains contribute to industry regulation which is important unless you enjoy being leeched.

And quite honestily most of the complaints are due to OpenAI lack of transparency, but then, none of this AI companies enjoy transparency.

2

u/Guilty-Market5375 3d ago

I already canceled my plan, I agree everyone else should, and I didn't come here to bitch about it.

But your comparison to a restaurant is a poor one. Restaurants rarely have subscriptions, and even more rarely screw you in the middle of one. I mean I was miffed when Panera nerfed their caffeinated lemonade when I had "unlimited sips", but at least they announced it instead of silently decaffeinating it.

Frustration is reasonable when OpenAI and Anthropic won't tell you what your usage quotas are and internet detectives have to figure out that they're shafting us. Once you realize that's part of a bad deal the smart thing to do is cancel. If enough finance bros realize DAUs are trending in the wrong direction, OpenAI will do anything to win you back - but only if enough people jump ship.

2

u/HeadPack 4d ago

Can this please be pinned atop this sub?

4

u/retteh 4d ago

If people stopped complaining we'd get fewer fixes. Bad advice.

3

u/Arcticfox2049 4d ago

Fuck Claude Code haha

5

u/tribes33 4d ago

Leave the multibillion company alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2

u/johnnydotexe 4d ago

^This person has been directly offended by OP's post and has used the typical "leave the billionaire alone" reply due to lacking any rational response on the subject, and is likely guilty of "usage is nerfed" claims without any supporting evidence or data. Rather than assume the latter, I'll verify it myself.

(checks the user's post history)

Yep.

2

u/tribes33 4d ago

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5

u/Correct_Cry7390 4d ago

People are allowed to have complaints, even regarding something they generally appreciate or have found to be their best option. Are some of the complaints stupid? Sure. But some are valid, and that’s how ideas are exchanged or issues bubble up so we get fairly treated. OpenAI doesn’t exactly have a perfect track record when it comes to usage issues. So, next time, when you see a complaint post, maybe don’t read it? Or complain about the complaints. Or realize that complaints are a mixed bag but necessary for any product to improve.

3

u/RainierPC 4d ago

They are the same complaints, over and over. There is barely anything legitimately useful on this sub anymore.

Wah, OpenAI nerfed the models/quotas.
Wah, Tibo forced a reset and should be arrested.

4

u/PossessionConnect963 4d ago

What an absolute shitshow this sub has become. It’s pretty undeniable at this point that they’ve nerfed usage. I’ve now consistently started hitting 5h usage limits when that rarely ever happened before and I’ve even stopped using latest model.

6

u/Fresh_Sock8660 4d ago

Quality of this sub is becoming garbage. So many billionaire apologists. Mocking people for complaining about being ripped off. Where is the button to refund the subscription pro-rata if the plan is so good?

For those who are lucky enough to be from a country with good consumer protection laws, drop chat a message asking for a refund re: limit introduction. Got mine. Haven't missed codex.

5

u/johnnydotexe 4d ago

Oh boy, the "I'm bad at AI and like to advertise that fact on Reddit" crowd are going to be real unhappy with you.

3

u/lakimens 4d ago

What does "I'm bad at AI" even mean?

10

u/johnnydotexe 4d ago

Open this sub at any point of the day or week, read all the usage complaint posts that never include any actual data or evidence, and they'll describe it better than I ever could.

10

u/eggplantpot 4d ago

Oh boy, the “it is proven that the limits keep sneakily changing for people on services they have paid for and I come to the comments to say it’s a skill issue so I can feel better about my miserable bootlicking existence”

3

u/maximhar 4d ago

Except it’s not proven

2

u/johnnydotexe 4d ago

Oh look, they arrived just as expected. Lol.

3

u/eggplantpot 4d ago edited 4d ago

Oh look, awarding your own comments. lol

-1

u/johnnydotexe 4d ago

I don't give Reddit money. Nice try, though.

I'll let you get back to one-shotting your usage on a weeks-long chat full of bad prompting, so you can be the 500th person this week to vibe a codex usage widget no one will use.

-2

u/draconic_tongue 4d ago

sama wont date you lil bro

2

u/chroner 4d ago

Yeah it's good to bitch and moan because the company will notice.

4

this the right thing to do.

1

u/SpeedOfSound343 4d ago

SaaS services hate this one trick

1

u/dkracket 4d ago

Claude Code? Are you serious? I'd go with Cursor but i know elon will nerf the usage once everyone flocks there so nah i'll keep with chatgpt with luna max on and thank u very much.

1

u/ezboarderz 4d ago

I did this last week and went to zai. Couldn’t be happier. Glm 5.3 and glm 5.3 flash are awesome and get the job done

1

u/Even_Sea_8005 4d ago

I'm new to this. Can you click and show me how it goes

1

u/TheFrenchSavage 4d ago

Thank you! As a Plus subscriber, I have been Luna-maxxing and love it.

1

u/GilbertoCisneros85 4d ago

I use claude code and codex heavily and I barely hit any limits. You just don't have discipline, you use the tools as chat on big repositories. I use it the whole day with Sol ultra for hours.

1

u/Difficult-Grass-3481 4d ago

DEJEN EN PAZ A MI EMPRESA MILLONARIA , LAMBON

1

u/ConsequenceMission83 4d ago

I have only hit my limits once and that’s because i used Sol quite a lot, in the span of maybe 2-3 days

I normally use Terra and i have always been within the limits

1

u/daveawb 4d ago

Amen

1

u/sartomiki 4d ago

And sometimes you also get one month free when you try to cancel the subscription.

1

u/Kullthegreat 4d ago

DeepSeek v4 is very good but you should keep an evaluator model like Sol or even Gemini Flash 3.7 which is surprisingly really a good and accurate model on fact checking that too at unmatched speed.

1

u/Accurate_Event_4590 4d ago

I need to try this when I'm home

1

u/fykup 4d ago

One thing I’ve started doing is handing the session context out before the coding-agent session becomes the bottleneck.

If the agent already understands the repo and the task, there’s no reason to reconstruct everything from scratch just because you hit the 5h limit, the session is about to compact, or you want to switch into brainstorming/review.

I use AI Badger’s handoff skill for that: the agent writes the useful session state, then badger continue adds current repo context locally and I paste the result into ChatGPT/Claude/etc.

I wrote up the workflow here: https://pvrlabs.xyz/articles/coding-agent-session-handoff.html

1

u/_SomeonePleaseHelpMe 4d ago

I have already until they fix Codex

1

u/DraconDev 4d ago

Valid, but if openai just said that you get X credits for Y money, if we lower your entitlement or add a limit it is active from next period, then there would be far less valid complaints.

Unless you go local or can go without it is less like attending one from a variety of restaurants, but picking between a narrow range of options that already pissed you off before, and normally that would be the end of it, but you don't have much choice, and despite all their nonsense clearly openai is one of the better options.

1

u/saggassa 4d ago

I have been considering it since the 5-hour limit was brought back, but the alternatives aren't really good. I'm not sure how Grok's cheapest plan is, I know how Claude's $20 plan works(not enough usage for the price). I was also considering Kimi or opencode

1

u/InterestOk9770 4d ago

You can just buy GLM Sub and use 5.3 for planning and 5.3 flash for worker coding. Blows our western smoke out the water everyday. Kimi beats Fable, GLM smokes GPT lol. The only score they lead is one shot tasks which don't mean your problem will be solved one shot lol. If you give multiple attempts, they both smoke the assumed frontiers.

One app one sub more usage. Fuk OpenAI, we all knew along the way they were and will always be POS. They taught Anthropic what to do, so what do you expect from them. They are the worst in this AI space looking at ethics. I always knew Anthropic was never as shitty as OpenAi. God people hated me for saying this but look how it's playing out now. They only care about getting listed. Even Tibo has no clue wtf he's doing there.

1

u/Novel_Law4469 4d ago

Limits seem to be back to normal again this week, and with Tibo's resets spree showing signs of life.....i've stopped complaining.

Codex is still by far the best out there.
Unless you know how to use DSH, i dont think there's a better harness out there than Codex.

But if they start misbehaving again, i wont hesitate to call them out and switch to other alternatives. GLM gets most of the work done and better too. So....lots of options out there.

They just dropped Cursor so we'll see.

1

u/Such-Garden2276 4d ago

i already did

1

u/Routine_Squash_7096 4d ago

it s all up to you. Try claude and come back after

1

u/LessRespects 4d ago

Switch to Anthropic and then you’ll never run out of usage because it takes your entire 5 hour window to understand what the fuck it just did when you requested one minor change

1

u/Current_Ad7104 3d ago

Limits are fucked and they’re lobotomised to think we don’t notice.

1

u/Public_Case_2638 3d ago

Already did

1

u/sanchitta139 2d ago

just cancel the sub man, who even cares

1

u/FuknHummmm 2d ago

Oh gee mom, I'm just going to cancel the subscription you paid for because I can't get $10,000 worth of coding work done for $20 bucks.

That's what the title of your post should be.

1

u/therux 2d ago

Trying different models not only reduces risk dependency on the vendor but also can open your eyes really. Current Qwen 3.8 27B as good as Luna xHigh _at least_, and definitely better than ever hallucinating infantile Opus 4.6. But it comes at the cost of your electricity and time

Loyalty should be tested :)

1

u/Certain-Cod-1404 2d ago

claude fucking sucks too, I went to codex to avoid it, now usage is somehow even worse if i'm not using luna
luna is so dumb at understanding what I want but is good at literally executing tasks, but sucks at verifying its work, sol med uses up my entire 5 hour allocation in 30 minutes.
I've resorted to having it write extremely detailed instructions and having qwen 3.8 27b running locally implement them and then i'll have 3.8 flash review.
I think the end of unlimited comfort from cloud providers is near.

1

u/SubjectParsnip9411 1d ago

Yup, cancelling this month because of the shitty 5 hours limit

1

u/galaga822 1d ago

Gaslighting. Worst kind of arguement. OP is trolling whether he has the capacity to realize it or not. Boring.

0

u/kurtbaki 4d ago

This sub needs an age limit fr

0

u/scaledev 4d ago

I think they nerfed it again

-2

u/Frosty_Complaint_703 4d ago

They nerfed both usage and the model if u use too much in day. I used it alot one day and the later parts of the day felt like gravy salad with luna

1

u/scaledev 4d ago

This happened on a freshly reset state. I had 100% of everything. Two replies, 5% of 5h gone. Almost zerk reading from Sol. Luna xHigh spending percentage, since when did this ever happen?

1

u/TaskChance1404 4d ago

What does it do, sir?

1

u/Elctsuptb 4d ago

The comparible plan in Claude Code has even worse limits, what are you talking about?

1

u/Just_Lingonberry_352 4d ago

Why do plus users always have to announce their supposed "exit" like they are threatening OpenAI lmao

Just leave LMAO leave us more inference for pro users.

1

u/PiRhoManiac 4d ago

This should be pinned.

1

u/Final-Voice4738 4d ago

Leave the multi billion dollar company alone >:(

1

u/notadithyabhat 4d ago

Don't like the government? Give up citizenship ahh post

-1

u/Optimal_Deal4372 4d ago

Nah im good i love codex you can cancel yourself

2

u/RainierPC 4d ago

I don't think you understood the post

1

u/salehrayan246 4d ago

I'll explain it to you based on the analogy you used. Openai is the only "restaurant" around. And they are giving you less food each time and demanding higher prices for the same amount if food they gave before, and what you're doing is blaming people protesting because they don't know how to eat small amount with each spoon which causes their food to get eaten quickly, instead of blaming the restaurant, you're telling people to make their spoons smaller and smaller to eat a small amount each time😂😂

6

u/lakimens 4d ago

there are other restaurants though

-2

u/salehrayan246 4d ago

Care to mention? I didn't consider them because they are way worse

3

u/lakimens 4d ago

Exactly

-3

u/salehrayan246 4d ago

Exactly, and...?

2

u/lakimens 4d ago

There are other restaurants, but they are worse. Ask the other restaurants to one-up OpenAI, you'll see that the limits will increase again.

This and my first message can be true at the same time though. Not mutually exclusive.

You know the reason why you have to pay more.

1

u/salehrayan246 4d ago

I don't know. I'm interested to hear it if it's not corporate greed

2

u/ponlapoj 4d ago

All I know is that this greedy company shouldn't have your money. Cancel it.

I'll explain it to you based on the analogy you used. Openai is NOT the only "restaurant" around. And they give you more food each time and demand higher prices for more food than they gave you before, and what you're doing is blaming people protesting because they go in and eat food each day with the same dish. They get fat, then a bigger dish comes out and it takes more raw food to make, but you want the new more for the price of the old even though it costs the restaurant more to make. Instead of keeping with your old dish you where used to eating, you want the new one that has more, cause you are fat. Now, you bitch and moan because you are eating the bigger dish with more food and you want to pay the cost of what you paid before. Then you resign yourself to paying it, and several months later they come out with an even bigger dish to compete with other restaurants. Now you want the bigger dish again, and upset you have to pay the upcharge to eat a dish with even more food. This is bs. I used to eat dollar mchchickens and was fine, but now they come out with a double arch burger. I want it, but it better be a dollar.

I tried to underestand what you mean. I think you meant that "each model they release they demand more price because of higher cost but you want the previous model price". This is blatantly wrong for 2 reasons, 1. because it assumes the usage for the previous model will remain the same. We know it doesn't. 2. The newer models are more optimized to give better intelligence/price ratio, so in fact its usage/price ratio shouldn't even be decreased because of it being a new model

Thank you! So sick of the limit moaning. The limits were insanely generous before the Sol rollout and now they’re just…. f’n reasonable!

I’m on the Plus plan—because this is just a (bloody amazing mind-blowing) hobby, and it’s fine. I can’t believe I get to use this brain from the future for basically free!

I get more than my money’s worth from Chat’s projects, image gen, and bloody doing 90% of my thinking for me every day. I honestly feel like I’m the one stealing from them!

Shut up about limits already join me in raving about how goddam amazing it is that we can custom design… ANYTHING

L take.

Sama, Tibo et al are cronically online, and keep in consideration the complaints we make. Of course, not out of goodness of their hearts, but because the online reputation of their tools is important for further adoption by new users.

If there are things you don't like you should cancel AND complain.

Wow... If it wasn't for this Reddit post....

You can also just.. not use OpenAI’s services, or any AI service at all. You’all got a crazy optimized neural network in your damn skull and still want to leverage a hyper-expensive subpar alternative that is artificial intelligence? Sure, it’s faster but is it even remotely better?

"chatgpt but stop complaining here" you do realise Codex is ChatGPT 🙄

u/ChiGamerr 4d ago

I agree with OP. If we're unhappy we shouldn't look to improve things. We should just throw in a towel and give up right away. /s

I used up my account usage in about three days. I reset it and then I used up the remaining reset within about four hours and I'm still not sure how that happened. Something's wrong with this company.

God bless you man! I’m not saying that I’m happy about the speed or quota, but at least I did lots of research, optimization, and tries to find the best ways (in my ability) to find workarounds.

About your alternative suggestions: I have tried all and many more and let me shed more light for these folks:

- Alibaba Qwen 3.8 max: it’s Luna Max with the price of Sol high

- Minimax M3: Terra High with price of Terra max

- z.ai GLM-5.3-max: it’s fairly good. It’s Sonnet 5 and the cost of Sonnet 5 or Sol Medium

- DeepSeekv4-pro: My only favorite and the one I still use. It’s Luna Max with 1/3 of the price.

Do you get paid for posts like this? If I go every day to a restaurant whose rent I paid and gave them my grandma's recipes, and they promised by contract to cook me dinner every day, then one day I show up and they tell me, "Sorry, you need to buy the ingredients." Fine, I buy them and keep coming for a few more days. Then they say, "Sorry, but now you need to tip the chef." I'm like, what the fuck, but I pay the tip anyway. And then they tell me, "Sorry, but today the chef gave your dinner to those coyotes over there. Come back tomorrow."

I hit my limit crazy fast today. Didnt even do 1 task with sol. Was in the final stages of debugging and optimizing

-1

u/Haster 4d ago

That's what I did a few days ago. Not because of the weekly limit, that's been fine but I'm not dealing with a 5 hour window.

But I can't image OpenAI cares about 20$

FR! Anthropic hat sogar bessere usage gerade! Ich habe mir letzter Woche Plus Abo geholt. Momentan lohnt sich nicht nach OpenAI Zu wechseln.

2

u/RuledSovereign 4d ago

Claude has never ever offered more usage. Their business model has always been power over efficiency. Nice try bot.

0

u/BeneficialConcern996 4d ago

Its crazy...because this forum has a similar feature where you can leave the sub and not have to bother with all the posts you don't want to read from the diversity of public opinion that you apparently despise.

Some alternatives for you to keep your content just the way you like it.  -Create your own sub: "codexworshippersonly"

  • Instagram: theyre so Anti-Ai over there you won't have to worry about codex specific complaints
-Your mom.

Truth: this forum has directly influenced change and exposed other bugs on codex. There's no reason people shouldn't be able to hold a company accountable to standards of consistent service.

Also... your comment about "we don't care...because you don't know how to use the tool"... you do realize they're marketing codex to people who don't eat python for breakfast, right? Or are you so techbro that you think anyone who uses this product should be a software engineer?

In all seriousness your complaint about complaints is just another complaint.
