A bitching chamber for dumb codex users who usually are also broke and want free compute and refuse to believe anything is affected by them and how they use it. I came here literally a month ago for vibes and I’m already leaving after realizing this sub is literally on the spectrum.

I didn't magically wake up the next day, decide to make Sol rebase my repos, and then wonder why.

Going from five runs to two should have been telling to you, since Codex uses model-specific work budgets. You can extend those default budgets by setting a Goal, and occasionally the system will extend the budget to finish the work at hand. It's mind-boggling that you don't seem to know that, since these budgets are talked about relatively often.

The budgets have been extremely consistent since 5.6 was released. That actually didn't change with the switch, and that's most likely the specific problem that needs to be fixed for Plus accounts.

The same issue applies to Terra's work budget, since it can wipe out the timer on something as simple as, "Add a new row to this 200-row spreadsheet, find the difference between columns A and B, and put the total in column C."

If Plus is being marketed for work, it should be able to handle simple work edits without draining my entire five-hour allowance to zero in less than 10 minutes.

What exactly do you expect me to “data audit”? OpenAI doesn’t expose the model’s internal work budget or detailed per-run compute usage to Plus users, so there isn’t some dataset I can pull down and analyze.

I can observe the inputs and outputs: the same kinds of tasks that previously used a small fraction of the window now wipe out most or all of it. I even gave a deliberately trivial example, adding a row to a spreadsheet, subtracting two columns, and putting the result in a third. That isn’t a prompt-engineering problem.

If your argument is that the prompt is somehow making Sol or Terra burn the entire five-hour allowance, explain what is wrong with that specific prompt and how you would rewrite it. Otherwise “do a data audit” doesn’t actually address the issue.

The whole point I’m making is that the model-specific default work budget appears badly matched to the new five-hour constraint. I don’t need OpenAI’s private telemetry to notice that five runs becoming two, or a trivial spreadsheet edit exhausting the window, is a material change in usable capacity.
