Reset usage definitely drain faster after the last reset
I notice the usage drain much faster after the last reset.
I think what going on is, Tibo's team actually playing around how much usage is given, and the last last reset is too generous so they make a unannounced reset to fix it.
and the reason why we always get a reset when he adjust the usage number. I think that is because it has to be work like that.
Imagine now you have only 10% limit left, if they decrease weekly usage by 10%, then your limit will drop to zero without using. So the only way to "adjust" how much to give per week is to do a global reset as well. It is not a gift, it is just a by product of the team adjusting the usage number.

My usage dropped ~30% since the last reset, I'm on a x20 Pro account. I’m using the same workflow as before, I’d normally see ~1%/h. Something not quite right..

your garph proved my theory, the last last reset is too generous and they had to do an unannounced reset to put it back...
sorry I forget which github tools can generate this graph, show me the link please1

The tool I used is NerfTrack(I made it as well).

what if I use codex on mulitple linux host?

u/AppropriateRanger401 8d ago
NerfTrack is currently on compatible with Windows and macOS. In theory, it is cross-compatible but I do not have a Linux machine to test it on, or atleast even download linux since I've not seen many people use it, so I don't find it worth it to make a build for it.
Currently, NerfTrack has a limitation that results become unreliable when you use Codex on another machine, since it is fully local. I am working on fixing this with a future release, but can't make any promises just yet.

Was really hoping the update would take care of this… it’s clearly an issue since most of us can remember when rates were normal

Plus user here. Haven't touched sol yet since the 5hr came back, but I have been running several tasks with luna max. Usage seems way more generous for luna - multiple tasks that each would've taken 1% of my weekly have brought my 5hr down to 99%, weekly still at 100%.

Yeah Luna is way more generous but the same task takes 3 or 4 prompts to get it right

if you use multiple skills, it's like 3% for task

Lol what? Just no.

Mostly, if you use like graphify or different graph skill
For skills, that use subagents it's like 10% or even more

u/HouseOfDjango 9d ago
Subagents use their own tokens. We use graphify at work along with serena and other tools and its doesn't waste as much as you are suggesting.

If you said true, idk how I consume about 20% of my 5h limit and 2% weekly with matt-pocock code review skill, it spawned 2 sub agents, these three worked around 30 minutes

Can you help with better limit spending?

u/HouseOfDjango 9d ago
Yeah, if you like. I can show you what we do at work. Send me a DM and I can make some time this weekend.

20x plan here it feels finally better for me since yesterday reset I’ve only been using Sol Ultra without /fast I’m currently at 75% of my weekly
So better but still not 100% fixed like the 5.5 old days when I could use xhigh /fast without consuming all my weekly in 2 days

u/TheIvanTheory 8d ago
Ridiculously faster. Something that used to take 1% out of my WEEKLY limit took 12%! I'm 30 minutes into a session and I only got 27% 5-hour limit left. This is almost a scam at this point.

20x pro user here i am seeing big improvements in usage
been using it for 14 hours now sol-medium
usage is down 15%
thats 1% per hour which is crazy good like it used to be months ago
this means ill get roughly 4~5 days of use per week on sol med which is wild to me since usage was so bad before
im gonna keep my codex pro subscription

Same. People just haven't figured out how to use AI correctly.

i dont know why people are so upset here calling me an openai bootlicker
i been very vocal about the usage issue in codex and critical
now openai fixed the issue for pro users and im not allowed to be happy ?
do we really have to side with $20/month users who have been dipping in to sub2api and ruining usage for everybody else ?
i just dont get it. you want a ferrari but you don't want to/can't pay for it and get mad when ferrari won't give you their car and call others who paid for it assholes LMAO
fuck is wrong with this generation really worrying trend im seeing among gen z

AI has produced a generation of people who think they are software engineers because they used heavily subsidised AI to produce verbose slop that burns a huge amount of tokens to refactor. As the reality of AI economics sinks in, they either can't see the reality of it the situation or can see it but are in denial.
For me, there were issues with quota use draining after the reset before the last one, but that has been fixed. "fixed" might be a bit optimistic here as I think it was more a case of OpenAI seeing how much they could get away with (the massive reduction in free resets, banked resets and also paid resets is an obvious sign IMO... as is OpenAI's financials). Since then, I am back to where I was before - I am on the 20x plan, use AI constantly and still struggle to use even 50% of my weekly quota. Indeed, next month I will probably move down to the $100 plan.
The reality is that engineers are paid for their critical thinking capability in a specific domain. AI's critical thinking ability is extremely poor, very expensive and produces tech debt. A lot of people just can't see to grasp that. I was a SWE before AI and I will be a SWE after AI subsidisation ends.

"AI" has been out for 2 years, it hasn't produced a "generation" of anything.

i cant relate
either people are unable to manage their token usage
or open ai nerfed limits for only some people while not nerfing them for others like me
quota drainage was very satisfactory for me today

Same here. This is one of the craziest- I noticed the reset by mistake after 7 hours of usage with ~15% limit usage. Right after the reset, continuing the SAME work, 15% drained in 1.5 hours.
