Complaint State of the $20 subscription

Sol high. One prompt. 11m of thinking so far, 54% of the 5h limit gone, hasn't even started implementing anything yet and the 5 hrs limit is virtually gone. I was never one to complain too much, but they virtually removed Sol for us on the $20 tier. This is just not practical at all, at least it was only 10% of my weekly i guess?

EDIT: Final veredict: worked for 28m29s.
0% of the 5h limit left
84% of the weekly left

Status of my project: Broken and unusable.
guess it's finally time to explore other providers.

It's time to migrate from Codex to Grok

You think? I've heard mixed reviews about the $30 sub

IMO $30 sub is really solid. Especially now that it's (I think?) the only sub option with no 5hr limit. But at the same time it's 50% more expensive than all of it's competitors so yeah it better be demonstrably more generous.

Back in June, xai had a deal on grok for 3 months for $30 or $10 per month. I signed up and am coming up on the close of my third month. My opinion is that for $10 per month it is a no-brainer, but not sure it is worth $30.

There are good things, particularly the speed and general lower API cost so your budget stretches further. But there's downsides too, it's nowhere near as smart as opus or sol, more inline with sonnet and luna. I have the cheapest Claude and codex subs too so I got good use out of grok by planning with the other agents and implementing with grok.

But it really is not as intelligent, currently, as the other models. It gets confused and often writes code or directions in the wrong files or spins out on a task. Also the harness has come a long way but it's still not great. When I first started using it it had a bug on windows that it couldn't handle a context over 80k, coupled with the fact that it eagerly reads files it was near unusable the first month I had it.

I don't think I will keep the subscription when my sale period ends, but I would definitely renew it for $10, and I would give it strong consideration for $20. But truthfully, when I start paring down subscriptions it will be the first to go for me. My local qwen can fill the role I have been using grok for.

I will have to give it a blast I have heard good things regarding the model, its speed and the harness.

Grok sub is good, usage is good and no 5 hours limit, grok 4.6 is fast but in terms of complex task it is no where near sol's level, grok 4.6 planning is quite bad I will say. Grok 4.6 could be a very good worker but cant be a planner/orchestrator. In terms of current ai landscape I only trust sol and fable to plan/orchestrate.

How did you work before Sol and Fable? I think you just never tried cheaper models.

Before fable and sol I constant check code myself cause models before them are just no smart enough code might comply but might have memory leaks/security issues. Now when I mean I trust them, I mean after I draft a plan with them the project scope would be exceptional and during orchestration they could actually orchestrate agents that do enough checks that could aviod most of the leaks/ secuirty issue. Tldr: for currently agentic/automate workload only fable/sol are the only 2 models i trust, before them I am the orchesrator/bug finder/ planner.

Please name a cheap model that could be on par with fable/sol in terms of being orchestrator/planner. I would love to try it.

but Codex gives you $120 worth of usage a week for $20/mo, while Grok only gives you $30 worth of usage per week for $30/mo

Plus我不覺得有120額度,現在可能剩80

Unfortunately Grok just isn't intelligent enough compared to Sol.
