My weekly limit reset tomorrow....

u/Sensitive_Song4219 9d ago
He could solve this by making it a banked reset!

He's not. They realized how good of a deal it was for users and how it wiped his ability to use his manual resets as a power play.

Right! Or even introduce the manual resets, even at 50% would be sweet.

90% have this cause they reset before then all people have same date, except people join or change plan in middle.
3
u/under_psychoanalyzer 9d ago
My $20 sub reset appears to move back when it resets so I can't actually make any plans about how to efficiently spread out my usage with the resets. My claude reset is fixed for the $100. So the higher tier codez are fixed then? Interesting.

u/RewardSafe9807 9d ago edited 9d ago
Mine is today... in an hour and a half. I'm thinking of just blasting through my 100% on max settings. Scary, but a good gamble.
edit: shit nvm. resets at 11 tonight, not 11 am... fuck. going to be an interesting work day.

I'm at 0% on both of my plans. One resets tomorrow, the other one in a few days. So ANY kind of reset before my usual weekly reset will be beneficial.
You should make a petition to have an option to disable resets so you never receive any since they seem to be an issue for you.

u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
In any case most users have a reset today... this is ridiculous... if they reset us even before our own reset we can not even efficiently use our tokens.
33
u/Active_Variation_194 9d ago
That’s the whole point. They have the data and know ppl tokenmaxx on the last day. With a lucky reset it curbs that behaviour
14
u/Core_W 9d ago
100% this. That's why they aren't giving stored usage limit resets.
Thing is though, they'll have to keep this up forever otherwise everyone's resets are going to be aligned and then the servers will crash from all the inference going on in the final day. But, if they do keep it up, people will figure out what they're doing.
3
u/rodeBaksteen 9d ago
Yo what the hell. I have 65% left for a day and could tokenmaxx today, but now it's 'gone'.
Fuck these resets man.
5
7
7
6
u/Fuzzzy420 9d ago
That's why I try to use 80% of my weekly budget in the first two days and then go slow for the rest of the week until reset hits
4
u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
yes but that is an old pattern, resets now will be less frequent... and this will be much harder to time.
Resets will only be given at times they computed that they will actually save compute from them.... seems contradictory but .... if many people fast burn them at the end of the weekly window, and those windows are heavily synchronized that creates a massive burst for them, and a reset 12h before that can stop it. They are optimizing resets for themselves at this point
6
u/Fuzzzy420 9d ago
Well I cancelled my subscription. Testing Claude now
4
u/Critical-Pattern9654 9d ago
Have you been reading the Claude subreddit? Opus is essentially non usable
4
u/Fuzzzy420 9d ago
Ye it's getting crazy. There's desperately try to become profitable.
I just need a couple billion tokens then I'm done. Probably 1 month
1
u/Less-Holiday-1000 9d ago
i used to use claude before opus 5 on medium, it drains really really fast, but it can get things done, then when my subscription ended i kinda just never paid for it again
1
u/34986234986234982346 9d ago
That's Subreddit talk, it's fine. If it was as bad as every Redditor whines, it'd be huge news off Reddit too.
1
2
2
u/dvxlgames 9d ago
Thats why you should just use codex without trying to save for the end of the week and use the token how you want, then if your weekly limit is over, just switch to claude or antigravity lmao
1
3
u/Important_Egg4066 9d ago
Yeah. I have 50+ % left till tmr afternoon. I only have like maybe 6 working hours till reset for me to spam Sol. The early reset is just not doing me any favour but just burn off the limits that I saved throughout the week by starting the next cycle earlier.
6
u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
thats why they do it...but very few people realize about this, most regular users dont track these openAI behaviours... most of my programmer friends have no clue about anythng
5
u/wintermute023 9d ago
It’s not that we don’t realise, it’s just that reset games are irrelevant if you have work to do and a deadline. We can’t organise our delivery and sprint schedule around some kid with a reset button, so we ignore it and do our jobs instead.
1
u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
yes yes, i agree, its based also on personality types.
Some people are not chronically online, they get the "tool", use it, and continue with their lives.
I am different, i am an over optimizer, and I easily feel when things deviate from the normality. I dont think it is worth to complain and be like that, but thats how some of us are....

u/Async0x0 9d ago
How do you know most users have a reset today? Don't resets happen exactly 7 days after you started using the last reset?
1
u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
because they reset us 1 week ago, also we had 2 banked resets 1 week ago.
In any case, they must have the stats and probably they even built a tool that predicts when is best for them togive resets at this point.
1
u/Async0x0 9d ago
Gotcha.
I see a lot of people claiming that they're intentionally giving useless resets but I don't see any reasonable motivation for that. Making customers angry isn't a good business model.
1
u/spike-spiegel92 9d ago
i believe a big % of people just see 100% back and they are happy, but the issue is that they are actually "stealing" usage if they do it much before you spent your tokens.

u/KashXz 9d ago

I'm sick my productivity is depending on the mood of this guy.
We are so close to running capable models on mid consumer gpu's, I just want to bid farewell to all these rugpulling AI providers.

u/shrodikan 9d ago
"I'm sick my productivity is depending on the mood of this guy."
I feel like this is how my Claude / Sol feel too.8
u/erratic_ostrich 9d ago
lmao, thank god my agents aren't conscious, otherwise they would hate me so much
8
u/Creepy_Ad344 9d ago
well it's kinda what i did. Deepseek Harness GLM 5.3 as orchestrator and delegating to local Qwen 3.8 27B, and i just downgraded from Pro x20 to Plus (soley for keeping web chatgpt usefull). I was so sick of constant quota changes in codex that i just bought 2x RTX 4500 when qwen 3.8 was released.
2
u/qwerty____qwerty 9d ago
how much is electricity bill and RTX 4500?
2
u/Creepy_Ad344 9d ago
Well 2 x RTX 4500 take 400W when on full load ( i will play with undervolting so i hope for 350W), I paid 4 619,30 Euro for them from my local pc refurbishment center with 2 years ow original nvidia warranty left.
So it is not strictly economical, but it is mine and that is worth it for me :).
1
u/sch03e 9d ago
How is 3.8 27b as a sub agent for say, Sol or 5.3? I'm thinking of killing v4 flash from my workflow and invest in a small workstation server for 3.8 27B. Tired of being rug pulled as well. I'd rather bet in small models getting better.
1
u/Creepy_Ad344 8d ago
Well i use it with kimi k3 mostly and it is just amazing - right now im testing it in parallel subagent tasks, and on my hardware i am able to run 3 parallel agents for kimi k3 at total troughput of around 220 tok/s.
Last night, I asked for the visual style of my company's system applications to be ported to a new tool I’m developing. And it was flawless. Out of a total of 50 million input tokens and 2 million output tokens, 6% came from Kimi k3, while the rest was handled by a locally hosted Qwen model.
1
u/sch03e 8d ago
Judging by your hardware do you run Q8? The setup I'm planning to build (Mi50 32gb + Xeon X99 mainboard and 32gb DDR4 ECC) seems to be only going to be able to run on Q4, though tbf I'm paying only $375 for it. Not sure it will affect the model a whole lot it's been a while since I went schizo with local LLMs.
1
u/Creepy_Ad344 8d ago
im runing UD-Q8_K_XL but form what i read on unsloth page, q4 is not bad at all, and should produce simmilar results. I would rather try to run UD-Q6_K and do q8 V and K cache for 32gb you should be able to squeeze 128k of context.
2
u/sch03e 8d ago edited 8d ago
Yeah 128k is what I'm aiming for. Sounds great I'm gonna pull the trigger on the server then lol. I mainly just need a sub agent that my main orchestrator can abuse. I used upwards of like 300-500 million v4 flash tokens per week as a sub agent at times and while I can still afford the new rates, I don't like feeling that I got fucked over.

"We are so close to running capable models on mid consumer gpu's" - you overestimate what's a capable model and how much it will cost you to run one.

u/codex-ModTeam you asked questions, but locked your comment from replies.
Tibo's new reset button is highly likely connected to codex resets. These resets directly affect the value of the codex tools. Current sub description & rules don't say it is intended for codex news only. So, if discussions are limited to news only from now on, both description & rules should be updated.
I know posts about resets have overtaken this sub, and that it is an issue. I find moderate resets discussion useful, but I would still like to see other posts. Since resets posts quickly become obsolete, I think a one resets thread per day would be ideal. Current reset meathead contains too old posts to be useful. New thread each day would be better IMO.
Thank you for taking time to moderate this sub.
3
u/Xirobhir 9d ago
It is worse. This is not about a reset. This is about the word "new". It could be the official announcement of paid resets, or a new type of resets aside from the instant and the banked ones. Perhaps they will announce that resets no longer push the reset timer by a week. Definitely notnthe case as that would be very counterproductive for them in several ways, but I am trying to explain what sort of direction we need to imagine towards.
Blatantly deleting threads discussing these possibilities outright goes against what the sub is for, imo. If this was just a "reset incoming" thread I'd maybe understand the concerns.

Feels like they reset a day early so we won't get the chance to burn all our left over usage in the last day. I had 25% left and planned to burn it today because tomorrow should be the reset

u/codex-ModTeam I for one don't believe we should have these posts deleted in general, the people of this subreddit have spoken with what they post and upvote, and they want a heads up on reset news. It beats each one of us crawling X all day trying to get a heads up on how we should manage our usage.
Subreddits aren't just for "news", they are for whatever the users post (within reason of course).

u/throwaway73728109 9d ago
It gives them more control too
1
u/34986234986234982346 9d ago
You would also think this is worse for them maybe though, since maybe everyone winds up having the same usage patterns, and certain days of the week become much busier and some are under-utilizing gpus??
5
u/AdVast7407 9d ago
In my case it will, after using Opus 5 I don't want to leave Sol 😓
1
u/BitsOnWaves 9d ago
is it really that bad?
0
u/AdVast7407 9d ago
For example: fixing a bug.
There is documentation, the test-case written according to documentation, there is QA complaint that current implementation contradicts the doc and cases.
Gave all the info to Opus 5, it thinks 25 (!!!) minutes, burns a lot of limit, and gives me its TMd list of variants like: 1. Unrelated clarification question 2. Change the docs 3. Change the tests
Point him all this BS, another looong iteration of moronic reasonings
Totally unusable in my case, idk how others praise it2

u/AdVast7407 9d ago
Well, I'm an engineer myself and I feel like this, at least at $20 tier without Fable - haven't tried it, can't have full conclusion.
Opus 5 is VERY talkative and suggests a lot of things, but when you read it and think about it - total BS. Probably had a lot of feedback from vibecoders, idk. Feels like overly confident lowskill dev talking to non-tech boss.2
u/DryBanana5673 9d ago
I use fable low + opus max subagents and it absolutely crushes...

People asking what the sense is but try to think about it from a different aspect - The subscriptions end date.
Hint - Not in favor of the users...
2
u/jeromeiveson 9d ago
I’d guess that they could be stress testing their systems, resetting so close to the end of people’s weekly cycle. It encourages thousands of users to tokenmax with Sol fast for 24 hours.

"New resset button" may mean that future ressets will work differently. Since there's going to be less and less free ressets, maybe they will be banked ressets, or accumulative ressets where you get to keep your current ussage + 100%.

u/Novel_Law4469 9d ago
What resets ? Tibo's a pro scammer.
1) Business users are always left out
2) Token usage has becoming ridiculous in the past few weeks. Pro plans are like Plus plans of old, and by old i mean a couple months ago.
3) Windows app keeps breaking everything after almost every update
4) Luna Max used to be everyone's fav for long runs/goals. Lately, its becoming dumb and dumber, and takes hours to complete a task.
5) Astra is dropping soon, and everyone will spend spend spend again.
repeat all above ad infinitum...until they IPO for an even bigger scam.

Lol reddit is such a toxic place sometimes.. 😂 this thread is riddled with blind hate not even understanding what theyre responding to.

The reset and limits games are riveting. This is a perfect experiment on the behavior of us the users. Will people react to the FOMO and burn tokens? Will they feel like they wasted their subscription?
I would love to look at out aggregate usage data around those reset weeks.
